... was my thought upon listening to this. I bought this and their crushing "Hail Horror" album at the same time and they arrived yesterday.

I listened to Hail Horror and... well go and have a look at my review of how amazing that album was.

This? This is even better.

Yes, somehow Himsa upped their game from a career-defining album. This one is more diverse, more ambitious, and just as stunning in its well-crafted and melodic brutality.

They topped a near-perfect album. Can I recommend this any more strongly?

I was just recently I discovered Himsa, or should I say Himsa as they played after the first release "Ground Breaking Ceremony". The first album was more of a tradiotional death metal album but nothing that made me scream out in joy so I didn't bother buying the 2003 "Courting Tragedy And Disaster". Or the following two albums. Until now.

"Summon In Thunder" was the final album from Himsa, but what an album it is. I'm into most forms of metal and in my opinion this is metalcore at its best. Hard, fast and heavy riffs, melodic in between and well played over all. I've been sitting here listening and trying to highlight the album but it is so hard because all of the songs are good. "Skinwalkers", "Reinventing The Noose" and "Big Timber" - if you don't have heard the band before or just heard the first release these songs are worth checking out. But it could really be any song.

The singing is ok and one thing I like about it is that the verse and refrain have the same kind of singing. Its some kind of death metal or thrash voice, but it's not as brutal as it could be but here its perfect as it is here. Check them out, you might like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow! 21 Sept. 2007
By Hot Sauce - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
i remember when i purchased my first himsa cd... actually it was their ep 'death is infinite' and 'courting tragedy and disaster'. i wasn't too impressed with 'death' and thought to myself i just wasted $20!!! but instead of returning the two i decided to give 'courting' a spin and was blown away!!! now this was a whole new band!!! i kept listening to this disc repeatedly and still to this day am not tired of it. about a month later 'hail horror' was released and though upon the first listen i knew it was another quality record, but it took me a little longer to 'get into it'. there was just something there that was missing. but after a little while longer it became a mainstay in my playlist. now enter 'summon in thunder'! this record totally blows both 'courting' and 'hail' out of the water!!! this record owns! it's so diverse and well produced, you can expect the same style of poetic verse from pettibone (sometimes i wonder what the hell this guy is trying to say, but nevertheless i don't listen to metal for the lyrics as they are most of the time lame or boring). this is in your face, unrelenting, mood altering b@11s to the wall metal!!! if you like the 2 previous records this one will no doubt floor you.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Totally Destroys Hail Horror. 29 Sept. 2007
By William E. Vandenbulcke - Published on Amazon.com

I Remember my introduction into himsa, back in 2004 i heard "girl in glass" so i picked up Courting Tradgedy and disaster til this day i love that record. i saw them live with bleeding through and death by stereo and they easily stole the show, then in 05 hail horror came out i baught it the first day it came out i liked it but not as much as courting. Summon In Thunder is Himsa's Return their best since courting.
5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible CD! A must-own for any metal collection! 30 April 2014

Great CD! Worth every penny! Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys metal! If you enjoy metal, you have to aggressively search to find the gems, as the radio plays the same old crap over and over, and while Sirius is much better, they hardly ever play most of the gems I've found by looking at metal label websites and metal magazine reviews online. Check-out some of the CDs that I have reviewed in my past, and I guarantee you will find something you may not have ever heard of! Stay metal and support our metal community! If you discover something you like on my past review list, click "yes" on where it says: "was this review helpful?"!
5.0 out of 5 stars a solid heavy *** must have 12 Oct. 2008
By D. Avery - Published on Amazon.com

I can't say I ever was a huge Himsa fan. After hearing a few seconds of one of their songs in a smoke & beet store, I went out and got courting tragedy and hail horror, but never really got into them. Awhile ago I saw the video for Big Timber off Summon in Thunder and was blown away. Got it the next day and has been one of my all time favorite cd's since. The band knows how to play, and work amazing well off each other. It's grinding, assaulting, and almost impossible not to head bang too. If anything, it's worth buying just for Skinwalkers (one of the best song intros ever). If your a metal fan, get it. you won't regret the puchase

I am upset I missed this band before they called it quits, but this CD is very well put together. It was actually an Amazon recommendation.
