Loved everything about this book. Some of themes were familiar; returning home to find yourself, unexpected encounters with wonderful people, who help you to see things in a new light. But then, there were the children and life and death issues, which gave added depth and intrigue.

Great Summer read.

I loved this book.
What starts out as a story of family and village life in the idyllic sounding West of Ireland suddenly and movingly switches from Local Hero to Ghost. Despite spending the last hour reading it in tears I recommend this as a perfect summer read. And winter come to that.

My first Fiona O'Brien novel ....but it won't be my last.
Many serious issues are subtly addressed within the context of this story....alcoholism , depression , grief ... and yet a subtle love story is at its heart , and we are left with hope .

What an amazing book. I've been frustrated, shocked and fallen in love and cried lots and lots. Totally shocked in some parts of the book, really caught me by surprise but love the POV it put forward, made me want to book my ticket to Ireland 🇮🇪.
