I've read 85% of the book on the Kindle so far and to be honest I'm still waiting to get excited about it. Not much romance has happened and to be honest it's a bit boring and not very gripping. I will give more of Jenny Hales books a chance before I totally write her off though as I love the Summer themes 😀

I really enjoyed this book and although it took me a while to get into the story, in parts I found it hard to put down.

Summer at Oyster Bay is my kind of a perfect read. Jenny Hale is my kind of a perfect writer. I loved absolutely everything about this book! And I very reluctantly left my happy reading bubble when I had to attend to another task. My only thing would be to persuade Jenny Hale to write more than two books a year- maybe four?

This book has a right mix of inspiring and delightful characters that is so easy to fall in love and root for.
Emily is a clever, warm and dynamic woman who loves her family more than anything else. When Emily arrives back in Oyster Bay, she feels more and more herself once again. She can't imagine living anywhere else than in her childhood home that holds so many precious memories but Emily's new boss Charles has different ideas about Oyster Bay, and he is pretty set on turning Emily's house into his new business venture.

Emily and Charlie are complementing each other so beautifully. I loved the way they have this instant chemistry, and both felt at ease with one another from day one. I could not take my eyes off the pages when I read the scenes with them both in; there was so much spark, tensions and hesitancy that made me race through the book to find out the outcome of their story.

Aside the leading characters I absolutely adored Emily's family, Gram, Rachel, Jeff and Clara were fantastic supporting characters, well rounded, fun, witty and realistic. The feeling of love, care and support among the members of this family was so tangible and appealing that it made me feel like I'm part of the family.

You can always count on Jenny Hale to write a heart-warming novel filled with love, laughter and happily ever after. Although the story-line was a bit predictable, the novel held my attention from beginning to end and was thoroughly enjoyable.

Summer at Oyster Bay is a story about a woman named Emily that just moved back home to Clearwater -a small coastal town near Chesapeake Bay- after turning town a marriage proposal from her now ex-boyfriend. Emily left it all behind three years ago to move to Richmond with her boyfriend Brad but over time she realized big city life wasn’t for her, and now she’s back to her small town roots and back to square one.

Temporarily living with her grandmother on the family farm in Oyster Bay brings back old history and countless memories for Emily. She just took a job as an event coordinator at Water’s Edge Inn, which has a new owner from New York named Charles Peterson who purchased the Inn as an investment. He happens to be single and very attractive and has absolutely no plans to stick around past the re-modeling of his investment.

I enjoyed Hale’s writing and loved the main theme of the novel of family, life and love mixed with a combination of holding on to old memories and making new ones. Family and loved ones are the most important things in life and it’s important to be there and support one another through anything that comes their way. Home is wherever you make it, but sometimes when a place has so much history it’s hard to let go and move on.

I loved this story! It was funny, emotional and heart-warming.
The main character, Emily Tate, is sweet and loyal, and I warmed to her immediately. She’s had some ups and downs recently but she always has good intentions. When Emily returns to Oyster Bay, she realises what she’s been missing, and I joined her on a rollercoaster of emotions as she is reunited with her precious Gram and extended family, as well as the ghosts of her past.
Then there’s Charles… the handsome new owner of the Water’s Edge Inn, and he brings a whole load of delightful complications into Emily’s life. He’s a serious businessman but also gorgeous and kind, and I enjoyed the journey as Emily brings out the best in him, and they realise that they have more than an appreciation of Oyster Bay in common.
Summer at Oyster Bay is a feel-good romance that captivates the senses and Jenny Hale is an author with a gift for seamlessly immersing the reader in the story and making them fall in love with her characters.
This is a 5* read, for sure!

I love this time of year because there is an influx of easy to read books which are perfect for snuggling up with of an evening, or indeed on holiday in the sun. This book is one of those.

This book, however, isn't the simple boy meets girl and falls in love story. The author has written a book with a decent storyline throughout, she stays true to the characters and all the characters are extremely well written.

I fell in love with Emily's Gram straight away. Regardless of the fact that a decision she has made dictates the way the whole story goes, she did it for the best possible reasons at the time. She has always had the best of intentions where her granddaughters are concerned.

I love how the story turns out, it gave me an immediate awwww moment. I'd recommend this story to anyone who wants a nice easy read, but one with backbone.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
