Chloe is glad she can leave her hometown behind for a few months. She's relieved she can stay with her father for the summer. Her best friend Jenna is coming with her. Chloe's father lives in Florida, in a resort near the beach, together with his fiancée and her son. Chloe hasn't met them yet, so she can use her best friend's support. She hopes her future stepbrother will be nice and brotherly. She needs this summer to recharge her batteries and to find herself again after the awful time she's had. Jenna puts a bucket list together for Chloe that contains ten goals she needs to achieve while she's there. She's sure this will give Chloe the confidence she desperately needs. Is it a good plan and will it work out the way it should?

Landon's mother has given him clear instructions, he has to keep his distance from Chloe and Jenna. It's fine if they spend time together, but he's a guy and they are pretty girls, which is usually a dangerous situation. He's a gentleman and he thinks he can do it, but when he sees Chloe he isn't so sure anymore. They both have their secrets and opening up isn't easy. Plus they will be brother and sister in a few weeks. Will Landon be able to obey his mother or is it too difficult for him to follow her orders?

The Summer Before Forever is a beautiful sweet story. Chloe is a kindhearted girl. She's terribly shy, but she doesn't run away from a challenge. She knows what she wants and she's very talented. Landon is smart and he's a real gentleman. He's a guy many girls dream about, but this doesn't make him arrogant. He's insecure rather than cocky and that makes him adorable. I immediately loved Chloe and Landon's connection. They are absolutely wonderful together.

I like that Melissa Chambers mixes humor with serious topics.

A sweet, uplifting, coming-of-age romance that will give you all the feels!

I seem to be addicted to forbidden romances at the moment, and I must admit it was what attracted me to request a review copy of The Summer Before Forever. However, to categorize this book as such would be doing it a massive injustice, because there is so much depth to this read and it is much more than just a story of two soon to be step-siblings who fall hard for each other.

This is a story about overcoming obstacles to follow your heart's desire.

Chloe undergoes massive character development throughout this book, bolstered by support from both Landon and Jenna. Jenna was an absolute hoot - a minor celebrity thanks to a stint on a TV show/competition, she clearly loves the spotlight. She is the polar opposite of shy Chloe in that regard. However, Jenna was such a fantastic friend to her, encouraging her to come out of her shell, and to deal with the issues as a result of a horrible assault she had endured.

Landon had my heart from the first time he made an appearance on my Kindle. What a complete and utter sweetheart. It's clear they are attracted to one another from the minute they meet but it takes a few weeks for them to act on it. I loved the build-up and getting to know both of them during that time. They really brought out the best in one another, and it epitomizes everything that is wonderful in a relationship when it's truly meant to be.

I've heard of dyslexia but I hadn't heard of dyscalculia until I read this book. Landon was following a different path in life rather than the one he desired because he felt the limitations of his disability. He never came across as weak even though he often felt like that on the inside.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing style has an innocence to it but I would say it is suitable for the 16+ age group in which it is aimed at. A lot of characters in books these days seem to have an older feel of confidence to them but this one takes you back to the awkward teen years.

Chloe's dad has decided to re-marry giving him a new family and step-son. Chloe agrees to spend the summer with her new family with the understanding that her best friend will be there to help her enjoy a sun kissed beach summer.
Unfortunately just before she heads out for the vacation she gets into a sticky situation at home which leaves her lacking in social confidence. When she meets her future step-brother he is the perfect gentleman to help her over come her new fear. He is more than she ever could have imagined and they hit it off from the start, as the lines begin to blur she realises her feelings maybe less platonic and more lustful. Can she really have it all?

Landon has a secret of his own and his hardworking summer sounds less than fun but he has a good support system to help him through it. He welcomes Chloe as a distraction and realises there is more to life than avoiding the hard stuff.

This is a sweet step romance that ticks all the right boxes. 4.5 stars out of 5. I would recommend it to ages around 16 (uk) and those who are young at heart. This book offers a diverse look at teens struggle with accepting who you are and not caring about what others think.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous, endearing summer read! 3 Sept. 2016

Let me start by saying that I don't read a lot of YA m/f contemporary romance. I picked this one up because I wanted a good beach read to start off my vacation, and also because of all the positive reviews. I'm so glad I did! If not, I would have missed out on the sweet, charming, and yes...sexy story of Chloe and Landon. I don't usually care for the typical snarky, "so put upon" and "over everything" heroines in YA romance, but I just adored Chloe, and she wasn't like that at all. Yes, she had her characters flaws, insecurities, and obstacles to overcome, but she was endearing and likable from page one until the end. And don't even get me started on the hot, sexy, and lovable Landon. He was almost too good to be true, however, Chambers pulled the character off in a way that was totally believable. Other things I loved about this book were the magical setting of the 30A area of Florida, Chloe's force of nature BFF, Jenna, and the Landon's particular learning disability that I'm glad Chambers shed some light on. A completely engrossing read that will leave you with a smile on your face long after the story ends. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a summer romance novel different from the rest 8 Oct. 2016
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

This is not just your typical summer romance book! I have read many young adult books about summer love with the same plot where the girl goes on holidays and falls in love with the local boy. Each novel is practically like reading the one before where the characters names have changed. This however is not the case with The Summer Before Forever. Melissa Chambers was able to provide a fresh, new, unique and addictive summer romance novel that stands out from the rest. You can't help but fall in love with Chloe, Jenna and Landon, immersing yourself in their lives. I couldn't put the book down and really hope that there will be a second book and even a third!!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars A Great YA read by a talented new author! 22 Aug. 2016

THE SUMMER BEFORE FOREVER is a perfect YA read! I loved Chloe and Landon and watching their soon-to-be step-sibling friendship turn to a romantic relationship. This book is a wonderful summer read, especially since the story takes place during the characters' summer break while they prepare for their parents' wedding in a beach town.

Landon ... sigh... every girl should have a Landon in her life at some point. He's sweet but masculine, protective but not overbearing, perfect but not. Chloe seems musical and chill, especially when it comes to her best friend/reality star Jenna, but she's dealing with something no teenager should have to deal with, and she's doing the best she can. When these two meet, their mutual attraction is off the charts and as they get to know each other, remaining simply step-siblings poses a challenge that neither one will, or wants to, meet.

I can't wait for Book 2, which I anticipate focuses on Jenna, an outgoing, dynamic female character (the type I love to see in YA). I'm curious who she ends up with, and look forward to being with these characters again.
