I’m a big fan of Alfie Robins’ work. I like his gritty portrayal of Hull’s criminal underbelly and the police force who try to maintain order. He blends his knowledge of the area with pacy action, dark northern humour and storylines that can’t fail to entertain.
In Suits and Bullets he’s gone one step further and created what has to be my favourite so far! I loved his new pairing of undercover cop Greg Warren who will go to absolutely any lengths to settle a score, and his reluctant sidekick Jimbo a young man of many illegal talents.
In Warren’s first case ‘over the line’, he takes on the identity of a known felon to infiltrate a notorious criminal gang. But drugs and smuggled blood diamonds are the least of his worries. He has a Sig under his jacket and he’s not afraid to use it.
Expect a clever plot, a liberal dose of violence and a protagonist who absolutely steals the show.
A cracking read. Hope I don’t have to wait too long for DS Warren’s next case.

Alfie Robin’s has created something rather special this time. There was Batman and Robin, Delboy and Rodney and now we have Warren and Jimbo. The perfect combination, DS Warren the hardened undercover cop and Jimbo his dubious young sidekick. Suits and Bullets is a first-class novel that kept me turning the pages, it has it all. It’s well written and fast moving with more than a smattering of dark humour. One I would definitely recommend.

I have read all the Alfie Robins novels, and Suits and Bullets is far the best yet. Set once again in the English city of Hull and the surrounding area, he paints a thrilling picture that pulls you in page by page. I can only agree with the reviews already posted, its fab. I hope we see more of the Greg Warren and Boland, AKA Jimbo.
