After first hearing Rise Against's 'Paper Wings' on a ps2 game, I was hooked and went out and bought their first 3 albums. The Sufferer and the Witness eclipses them all for me and McIlrath's explosive yet powerfully emotional voice coupled with the crunching guitar riffs results in easily the best band of the current punk genre. Its hard to find any filler songs on such a well-refined album, with my favourite tracks being Ready To Fall, Prayer of the Refugee and Behind Closed Doors. Whilst providing a unique, louder, rockier edge to the punk genre, RA are an undiscovered gem in the commercial music world

Purchased as a Christtmas present for my son who informs me that it meets all of his expectations and is what he wanted. Not really my type of music, I believe the genre is what is known as Melodic Hardcore, doesn't seem too melodic to me. However, it appeals to a seventeen year old who has quite wide taste in music.
From what I understand the band are very good at what they do. That is about all I can say really.
THe cd was delivered promptly after ordering and came in secure packaging I have been advised that the cd should be given five stars and certainly from my point of view the prompt delivery and secure packaging merits five stars.

This album has got it all : meaningful lyrics, catchy music and great production. It grabs you from the first note and you'll find yourself playing it over and over again with the same joy. A gem.

I was admittedly a little disappointed with Siren Song of the Counter Culture, after the unmistakable quality of Revolutions Per Minute, but this album represents a return to all that (at least for me personally) is best about Rise Against.

McIlrath's moody, more melodic vocals of Siren Song are replaced once more by the angsty, harsher, hardcore-inspired tones present in their early work, while the guitar work has progressed toward more a technical, complex style.

The quality of the production doesn't let the band down either, with all the songs sounding crisp, and the vocals are easily understood. Another great aspect of the album is its continuity, with each song running seamlessly into the next.

Every song on the album is an anthem in its own right, but songs such as Prayer of the Refugee, Behind Closed Doors and Survive really stand out from the rest.

In all, an excellent buy for new and old fans alike!

The Sufferer and the Witness is Rise Against's 4th album and in my opinion in the best. Each song radiates in politics, religion and how the world is changing and goes about it in a poetic way and doesn't shove it down your throat. Rise Against are officially the best punk band of our generation, and they have also proved they can do all sorts of punk melodies, old skool punk tracks and even accoustic punk songs.

Without trying to sounds too biased, it disappoints me to see people going crazy over albums recently released that seem to be glorified to a higher extent than Rise Against's beautiful work; for instance Lost Prophet's new "Liberation Transmission". I also bought that CD and I thought it was a crock of garbage. It's OK if you are a 12 year old girl that fancies the lead singer, but all in all it doesn't matter too much. Rise Against has plenty of loyal and respecting fans that know great music when they hear it.

Buy The Sufferer and the Witness, and then their other 3 albums: Siren Song of the Counter Culture, Revolutions Per Minute and their debut album The Unraveling. Open your eyes to the genius that is Rise Against!

The sufferer and the witness is a good album and I would reccomend it to anyone who likes Punk/metal. Their songs are catchy and they are well thought out. Rise against play their songs with all the emotion that insired them to write this album and songs, and its the sought of music that you find yourself singing all day. I give The Sufferer and the Witness five stars!

Mmmm *wipes slobber from lips*. Now this is what i'm talking about. Rise Against seem to improve with every album.

It's hard to stay the non-commerical side of accessible punk, but somehow they manage it. With a 90's revival round the corner, this band are going to be the Offspring's (earlier stuff) spawn. Each song on this album has nice big chopped power chords, played at great speed with heart-beating drums and bass rhythms to rumble your body to bits. The chorus's are big and sing-a-long and the meanings deep and insightful. Plus lots of 'Woah' in every song.

Even the quieter stuff is pulled of perfectly (as RA always seem to do). Kudos for the At the drive-in inspired 'The Approaching Curve'. It's a shame more punk bands don't dare experiment with songs. If you like Lost Prophets, then for gods sake chuck that rubbish away and buy this. This is the proper stuff without the silly emo hair!

This is a great album, follows the steps of previous albums such as revolutions per min and siren songs. Stand out tracks are 'injection' 'bricks' 'built to last' and 'drones'. Recommended for anyone interested in previous albums or punk/rock
