Success Or Your Money Back contains 30 chapters and they each appear to cover a different subject. They are however linked, and take the reader on a journey of self-discovery. Yes, that does sound a bit flowery, but that’s only down to my limitations as a writer. In a nutshell, each chapter is a hugely encouraging pep talk, packed full of reassuring nuggets of information, some of which you already kind of know but will benefit from having explained to you. If you’ve ever thought ‘all adults are bluffing it’ for instance, it’s good to discover you’re not alone.
Unlike many self-help books, many of which have a narrow focus on a particular issue, this book’s advice will resonate with anyone who wants to improve their situation or who just requires motivation. It’s written in a wonderfully informal style, yet this doesn’t detract from the serious points it makes. Read it in one sitting if you wish – personally I think you’ll stop reading very early on to start jotting down ideas and plans of action – or keep it handy and dip in and out of at will: either way it’s hard to imagine anyone finishing this and thinking it wasn’t worth the purchase price. If I could give the author one piece of advice, I’d urge him to create an audiobook version.
Shed's style of writing; quirky, punchy and on the money will make the reading and digestion of this book a joy for most people that read it. I defy anyone to say there isn't a lesson in this book for them.
The only downfall for me was that it was so easy and compelling to read that I finished in three nights and I am now left with a void to fill!
The book is easy going and once read, you'll probably find a few chapters which you'll refer back to time and again.
This book contains all the practical advice / tips / methods you need to inject some of that Shed Magic into your life - and there are some real nuggets of gold.
Like many of this style of book - you need to actually apply the advice to your own life or its pretty worthless - but this book feels like a good friend giving you really good advice and its written in an encouraging style which really makes you want to act on Shed's advice.
If you were only going to buy one Shed book, I'd chose this over 'Ideas Man' for practical use - although 'ideas Man' is a great read too.
I certainly wont be asking for my money back :)
Shed is obviously a resourceful guy with oodles of chutzpah, yet he's by no means super-human (as many authors in this genre tend to act). No, he comes across as relatable and ordinary; just clearly prepared to punch above his weight to achieve the extraordinary.
A lot (if not all) of his projects are "puntastic", but if this is not your cup of tea don't worry: the underlying methods he uses can be applied your way; indeed he encourages you to do things in your own unique style.
I shall definitely be reading this again. I can't mark this review as a "verified purchase" as I read it in a library. Which is actually to the book's credit, as it had to stand out amongst the thousands of others. Give it a read and I'm sure it'll help you stand out too.
