Stygian, by Nashoda Rose, is prequel 1 in the 'Scars of the Wraiths' paranormal series and set before Take ( book 4 in the series) the standalone novel which was released earlier this year.
I fell in love with this different approach to the paranormal genre with the Scars; immortal warriors with enhanced sensory abilities intermingling with other races and creatures on Earth whilst trying to maintain the status quo with the Wraiths, politics and internal power struggles whilst fulfilling their oath of "to protect humanity from any darkness that walked in the shadows." All the while living unknown to the people they've sworn to protect.

Nashoda perfectly balances her introduction to this new series with a gripping plot from the first page with the human Danni facing a horrific ordeal at the hands of a devious, torturous male. She longs for her normal everyday life instead of the hell she's enduring... Minutes, hours, days all blur into one, she's teetering on giving into her abuser's demands but a fellow captive saves her by offering to take her place. This one act has serious consequences for the both of them that will change their lives as they've known them forever.

Two years in from her ordeal and Danni is a successful artist, but gone is the fierce, wild, carefree spirited woman she once was and in her place is a fearful and isolated female who has no recollection of her torture only flashbacks through triggers of smells, sounds and dreams of green eyed male with a Tiger tattoo that she paints obsessively and is desperate to know more on. Recently she's felt a presence around her that's made her feel safe, something she hasn't feel in two years, but what is this presence and what do they want?

Oh my God. What a book, what an ending. This is definitely Nashoda at her best. The scars books are fantastic. I have loved every single book this amazing author has written. I don't think she can write a bad book.
The whole story of scars, Wraiths other realms what is there not to love?
Everyone has to read this book it's gripping it has you on the edge of your seat. Fantastic.
I can't wait for the next book now. I want to see how Kilter gets "the girl" out. I'm really hoping this will be the next book because I really want to read his story and I want to know what happens between Darla and Waleron. I want to read their story as well. This is an amazing story of fantasy this is Danni and Balen's story. A must read and recommend for everyone. Read Nashoda Rose she is my favourite author of the year!

This is a really great read, a fab PNR world has been created here. The story centers on Balen, a Scar - an immortal there to protect the humans, and Danni, a human abducted by a vampire. The plot centers around these two but there are lots of different characters in here which add to the interesting mix!! It's a great read, good plot line, lots of emotions in there with some great sex added also. Can't wait to read the next one in this series!

Love this book though different from her other works, lots of humour from Dani and she has a mouth on her that's for sure and she wants one thing but not sure if he is a dream or reality all she can do is paint him but as it turns out he is a reality but the thing is dani doesn't recognise Balen but she is drawn to him and she knows that the time from being held captive is a blank could he have been the one that took her and is he back to finish her off this time?

I really can't wait for more in this series, supernatural meets romance I was hooked and I must warn you hot tattooed guys are a given in this book.

This is my first Nashoda Rose novel and I absolutely loved it! A great paranormal story which takes you into the world of the Scars! The story told from different POV;'s takes you on a roller coaster journey. Although the story is mainly about Balen and Danni - there are lots of secondary characters who all deserve their own books - like Kilter and Waleron (hope you are reading this Nashoda).

If like me you are a lover of the paranormal - give five glorious cheers for what looks like it is going to be fabulous series.

I loved this as an intro to the wraiths series you get the central characters danni and balen (hot stuff) who get bonded by torture and distress who finally give in to their needs against all the odds and through a series of adventure that tests them and pushes them to the limit.
