Architectural works by students are practice workpieces. Nevertheless, in addition to the formidable and arduous acquisition of craftsmanship, they bear witness to the joint quest of teacher and pupil for a meaningful development of the architectural task. Distinction: "The most beautiful Swiss books" 2000. Text in English, German and Italian.

I had been really looking forward to learning what sort of briefs he sets his students, and an insight into his method of teaching. Regrettably, there is no such information in this book; you have no clear idea as to what the projects are actually about, rendering the drawings largely meaningless. We already know that Olgiati favours 2D CAD drawings in black and white and large white card / foamboard models, and this book does not go beyond that in increasing our understanding of his teaching approach. I actually found the 2G journal on Valerio Olgiati more informative about his work as a professor than this book was. Bear in mind, in the 2G on Valerio Olgiati, they give over about 4 pages to his teaching, so you get some idea of how limited the word count is in this book.
I am a big fan of Quart's publications, but this one was a let down (my first, and only so far, thankfully).
