What an enjoyable story by a favourite author (Melanie) and a feisty newcomer (David). Their combined talents have produced a heartfelt, steamy M/M romance.
Often with an M/M romance, the actual romance is sacrificed in favour of hot and heavy scenes. Sometimes you're left wondering what the couple could possibly have in common outside of the bedroom. Not so with this beautiful, poignant love story.
That isn't to say that the bedroom scenes are tame, they aren't. Instead, they are really, really satisfying. 😘
I loved the storyline of the apparently straight Derek taking in the newly arrived Maxim after an unfortunate introduction to the USA. Maxim is a young gay man coming to LA with little more than dreams and hopes.
The two men share a reluctant attraction... I'll say no more, read the book yourself! 😉
Oh Derek. What a conflicted, tortured but ultimately brave soul you really were. Maxim is portrayed as the brave one, coming from Russia on a wing and a prayer. My reading is that Maxim makes Derek into the man he is destined to be. It's almost as if Maxim is the older man and Derek the younger. The pair of them together make for a beautiful couple. They totally bring out the best in each other.
I hope this is the start of a new writing duo. Melanie and David have obviously worked well together and there's no reason why that magic can't be recreated.

I have never read this type of book before, I am a complete M/M virgin, but I decided to read this book after seeing other reviews and reading some teasers and OMG it was amazing. I absolutely loved this book and would have read it in one sitting if my body didn't demand sleep, as I was completely hooked from Chapter one. I loved Derek for his insecurity and perfection and I loved Maxim for how brave and strong he was and I found myself rooting for this couple from the get go. I found myself hoping that Derek would make the right decision and follow his heart without ever thinking bad of him. I could rave about this book for hours and will defiantly be re-reading but I really don’t want to give away any spoilers as this books speaks for itself and I honestly believe that this story will hit home with anyone who has struggled with their sexuality.

I so loved this story, my first by these authors but I will be looking for more by them. I felt quite sorry for Derek, he really did struggle trying to com to terms with his feelings, and Maxim was as sweet as can be. Really a lovely book, do read it and enjoy

Strong Enough, Melanie Harlow.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, LGBTQIA

I've enjoyed some of Melanie's past novels and was delighted to get this for review - I do so like a good M?M romance, somehow there's so often the tenderness, the real romance side that's often lacking in hetero novels. And this book had bags of that, along with some very sensual heat.

I loved Maxim, he's just such a true gentleman, loves his mum and little sister, opens doors for ladies, always polite, that sort of guy.
He wants more than the life waiting for him in Russia, with its anti-gay stance, and has taken a 6 month visa to the US to follow his script-writing dreams. Sadly though, like so many he's unprepared for the vicious, cruel world waiting to take advantage of an innocent.
The guy who's meeting him and showing him to his new home doesn't show up, then having a drink in a bar wondering what to do next his luggage gets nicked, and he's homeless, jobless, cashless all in one fell swoop.
Luckily Derek's sister has a penchant for strays, for helping people and animals and when she hears whats happened she invited Max to stay with Derek, then rings Derek and tells him ;-)

Derek's kind of  a neat freak, a place for everything and everything in its place. His friends take the mickey but its how he is, along with his long held dream of wife and family. Times passing though, he's approaching forty and hasn't got there yet despite trying hard.
Of course when we see him with Max its clear why, he's really not that into women, maybe he's bi, but its clear he wants Max. He's had an upbringing though that's taught him Gay Is Bad.

Melanie Harlow and David Romanov are both new to me authors and boy am i glad i've found them. I absolutely adored this read it was everything and so much more than i was expecting. This story is low on angst and drama but packs an emotional punch with depth and meaning. Making this a truly heart warming beautiful read.

Strong Enough is a story of two mens journey to their HEA. One mans journey of spontaneity and striving to reach his dream. Another mans Journey of acceptance and not fear.

Derek is an organised man everything in its place. He projects that not only with his belongings but with his personal life too. He was brought up with the beliefs that you grow up get a job meet a girl get married have a family, thats it nice neat and straight to the point the perfect life.

But life isn't black and white there's no right or wrong its colourful its what YOU make of life that makes it perfect.

Maxim's life is just that colourful, moving from Russia to America. He's talking chances and seeing where life will take him he has dreams and goals and isn't going to let anything stand in his way of experiencing life to the fullest.

So when fate steps in bring this two completely but utterly perfect for each other men together. We get an explosion of raw emotion their chemistry? scorching hot!
their relationship? a beautiful connection that made me swoon.

"With Maxim, it made sense. It was as much a part of me as the heart beating in my chest or the blood rushing through my veins. And it was beautiful. With Him it was beautiful."

This book is a must read for any M/M Romance fan. If you have never read this genre before this book is a fantastic introduction into this genre and be prepared to never look back. M/M Romance has become one of my favourite genre of reads and when you read this book you'll understand exactly why!!
