About the Author

Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment in 2009, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders". What followed was a series of books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending.

I like these books, they are easy to read and the characters are almost like family now. Bob Moats develops Jim Richards becoming the PI we would all like to employ. This story follows a tried and tested format but still has surprises concealed within. An excellent coffee break read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dark Scary World Of The Strip Club Scene....... 29 Aug. 2015
By Donald Hunt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Note: I have read the book after it was revised, so I did not
see the "problems" that other reviewers did.
This is Book 7 of the Jim Richards Murder Novels series, there
are now more than 35 as I write this review, and it is a bit longer
than some the the earlier stories as it is 230 pages in length.
Business has slowed a bit for the Jim Richards PI firm, when a
call from a friend in Las Vegas comes in, asking for JR to help find
a missing person.
The missing person is a stripper from a local strip club owned by.....
you may be better off not knowing that, and there may even be more
girls involved.
This story has a little bit of everything, Human Trafficking, Drugs, Strip Clubs,
Cross Country Chases, Fast Cars, Hot Women, Money, The Mob, Murder.......
We go from Detroit to New York, and see things only The Big Apple can offer.
And the scary thing is, these types of things happen everyday in our country.
So, grab your 9mm and come on along for the eye opening ride.
2.0 out of 5 stars Author Needs Copy Editor ASAP 27 Aug. 2012
By Rebecca Sunnybrook - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
All of the Jim Richards novels by Bob Moats are in serious need of copy editing. The typos, misspellings, inaccurate word usage and grammatical errors (I/me, it's/its, their/there) make the books appear amateurish at best, ignorant at worst. I enjoy the plots, the lightness, the intentional silliness of the characters. These books would be perfect beach reading if only they were edited. The main characters' obsession with sex is overdone, but what the hell. Go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good reading 7 July 2013

Bob Moats writes another fast moving, understandable book. It is easy reading an easily understandable. Recommend the entire series but strongly suggest starting with the "Cheerleader Murders and reading them in order. Author tends to refer to events in previous books. All are good, easy, fast moving stories. Highly recommend.
