Product description

From the Publisher

Stretch to the Max is not just for the Martial Artist. It is just as relevant for day-to-day living, as it is for the focused athlete.
Whether you are a couch potato, recovering from an injury or perform Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Football, Cricket, Rugby, tennis, cycling or any of the myriad of sports or activities, you will find useful information in this book.
As we age, our muscles tighten and the range of motion in joints can be minimised. This can put a damper on active lifestyles and even hinder normal day-to-day activities. Tasks that used to be simple, such as zipping up a dress, tying your shoelace or just reaching for an item off the top shelf, can become extremely difficult. A regular stretching program can help lengthen your muscles and make daily living activities easier.
The benefits gained from stretching correctly and regularly are immense. For example it:
* Increases mobility in muscles, joints and tendons
* Improves posture
* Prevent injuries such as muscle strain
* Reduces muscle tension, helps the body feel more relaxed, increases circulation and aids in the reduction of muscular fatigue
* It reduces every day stress

From the Author

I Love the Martial Arts. Specifically `the `art'. When performed at the highest degree it is like watching poetry in motion. It is elegant, beautiful, graceful, and almost balletic in its appearance, yet it conveys a power, speed , focus, fluidity & balance I am yet to witness in anything else. It is true that many of the competitors are fierce and aggressive, however, the best competitor I saw, a world champion, never showed any aggression on his face. He beat competitors while exuding an inner calm. He wasn't a master in status but appeared to be master of himself and those around him when in the `competition square'.
Through the years, I have sought the `Mastery of self' through various studies and my findings have led me to the conclusion, `Master the body and the mind will follow'. Master the mind, and the spirit will follow', `Master all three and your work is done'.
This book is a starting point for physical self-mastery. Keep a diary of your starting point and progress, because when you achieve your goal, you will be able to reflect on your journey and use it as a template for other journeys you will inevitably undertake.
