She is a huge supporter of organ donation after her husband received an urgent heart transplant at Harefield Hospital in 2013 and all the profits from the sale of the book have been donated to the hospital. Andrew and Lauren live in London with their English Bull Terrier Billy and their first 'miracle' child Frank Fabio was born in October 2014, just over year after they were given a second chance. Throughout the book we are reminded how fragile life is – Lauren and Andrew experienced a roller-coaster of terrifying situations (unfortunately more downs than ups so you’ll certainly need a box of tissues to hand).
We live in a country where we take health care for granted and although I’m aware that few countries benefit from a system such as ours, it came as a horrific shock that unless there is a guarantee of payment, doctors refuse to treat patients so many people die as a result.
All through the book there are many acts of kindness from family, friends and strangers (hence the title) and it renews one’s faith in human nature.
The story is full of courage, love, despair, hope and strength.
So well written by Lauren. Their journey is an amazing story with a brilliant outcome. I'm sure the donors family would take comfort from the amazing impact their loved ones donation has made to a lovely couple.
Had to have the tissues handy all through this book!!!
So very happy that Andrew got his transplant and they have a little boy!!!

As a retired RYAN and having had to have my right on they removed well done!! Bless you both!!
