Product Description

Strelets from the Ukraine is a new manufacturer of figures in 1/72scale. The main interest of these figure sets is the variety andoriginality pf poses. Whereas in a traditional set such as from Revellor Airfix you will find about 10 - 12 different poses, here you willfind that virtually every figure in a set is unique, that means thatyou get as almost much different poses as there are figures in a box.

There is not room enough here to detail the causes of the Crimean war,but the Black Sea, dividing the Ottoman and Russian empires, was alwaysa key location in the rivalry between these two powers. As a resulttheir navies played an important part, and indeed the destruction of aTurkish flotilla by the Russian Black Sea Fleet in November 1853 atSinope did much to precipitate France and Britain entering the war. Themain war aim of the allies was the capture of the Black Sea Fleet'sbase at Sevastopol, and as part of the siege of that port the fleet wassuccessfully bottled up there, with the result that many of the largewarships were scuttled to block the harbour entrance and the sailors, who were an obvious ready-made supply of experienced artillerypersonnel, were used to man the defences on land. In fact these sailorsformed the bulk of the city's artillery defences, with 8,886 of the10,562 defending gunners being sailors.
