After the first three episodes of this being great, I found this one to be disappointing. There are a few frames that are just black, which I can't decide are being used as scene edits, or whether they should have illustrations in them.

The story starts in Maryland on 2nd November 1978, and we are back once again with the little girl Ginny, who first appeared in Stray Bullets #2. Running away from home she eventually gets a lift from a stranger. Here we follow what happens next. I did like the way this story misdirects you to a certain extent, but compared with the first three stories, this is quite weak.

This is possible the best one yet in the series as it starts to bring the story together, reintroducing characters and broadening the story arcs. With a story set over generations, believable yet complex characters and quick sharp dialogue. This series continues to impress; however, the proof is in the pudding as they say, after these first four FREE instalments, am I now prepared to splash out cold hard cash for the next one. The simple answer is yes. You should to.

This is very much a book to enjoy. It's grim and seedy, but poignant and hard edged. The only negative is that it needs to be taken as part of the series not a standalone title, however it does leave you pleading for more.

All of these books are pure page turners. David Lapham shows his mastery at writing and art. I have been reading all these non stops. A must read for all noir fans.
