I had never heard of Mitch until I listened to this stand up show and I can't get enough of it. He is absolutely hilarious from start to finish as he finds incredible comedy from within even the most mundane topics. His laid back style and relaxed presentation will make him an instant favourite with anyone that trys this cd out.

If I could give it more stars I would, it's just such a shame he had to die so young.

Found out Mitch existed only after he didn't anymore (if you see what I mean) On hearing the news of the untimely death of an American stand up in 2005 I looked up this album and got hold of a copy.
I was blown away by just how funny this guy was. I've listened to this album countless times and it makes me laugh out loud every time. Sad that he died so young but this is a brilliant legacy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best unknown comic around! 16 Jun. 2016

Too bad Mitch is gone. His humor is entirely unique and is a series of surprising, short, almost one liner observations. Everyone I've played these to ends up not only busting out laughing but doing so 'til their faces hurt. We keep them in the car for long trips -you will not fall asleep. -I bought the three CDs as downloads -Strategic Grille Locations is just like the other two (Do You Believe in Gosh and Mitch All Together) -excerpts from his live shows. The excerpts are usually a bunch of jokes in a row for about as long as a song would go. The only complaints I have are that the audio editing is pretty poor -many excerpts begin with just the punch line of a previous joke and the same editing guy seems not to know about EQ or matching levels across all the tracks so you have to adjust the volume level from time to time. Still, these CDs are precious.

5.0 out of 5 stars I listened to that CD once . . . that sucker relentless! 12 Sept. 2004

If you don't get the (somewhat censored) joke, don't feel bad. You have to listen to the CD to get it - and I highly recommend that you do. I've been collecting comedy albums for a while now and I have almost a hundred of them, and I've never heard anyone quite like Mitch Hedberg. I won't lie, when I first started listening to this album, I wasn't impressed. I kept thinking, "This guy sounds like he's stoned out of his mind, and what's he talking about?" But as the album went on he (and the background bassline that fills in the spaces between jokes) pulled me in and I found myself laughing even as I tried to place him into some category . . . the best I can tell you is that his delivery is like a more expressive Steven Wright with better, more unusual material. It's hard not to like him as you take a backseat ride through his unusual perceptions on life; he's sort of that lovable loser who never really applies himself to life but relaxes and enjoys the view.

If you're looking for angry wit laced with sarcasm (a la George Carlin, Denis Leary or Lewis Black) this isn't for you. If you're looking for strong opinions on political or social issues (Dennis Miller, Margaret Cho, Suzanne Westenhoefer), Mitch never even brings that stuff up. Like a blue streak (Sam Kinison, Andrew Dice Clay)? Mitch uses some profanity but it's never once the basis of a joke; you could censor his act and he's just as funny. However, if you're looking for absurd looks at mundane things - the man makes Smokey the Bear a riot - Mitch is for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars Better than most comedians still living... 7 Jun. 2008

If there's a single negative thing to be said about this CD, it's that it's too short. It left me wanting more...

A lot has been written about this man's talent and his career, both good and bad, but in my opinion Mitch was a troubled individual who probably got a lot more from his stand-up act than most of his fans did. Looking back, I'm certain Mr. Hedberg considered his comedy career as self therapy, which more likely than not allowed him to go on as long as he did. Some people seem confused or put off by his frequent use of the non sequitur, but he was able to spit out bits of faulty logic with the deftness that eluded most of his contemporaneous peers. He was a favorite performer of many intellectual celebrities, and as far as I'm concerned, that puts me in very good company as a fan. I will forever be saddened by the fact that Mitch was taken from us at such a young age. As a society we were cheated by fate by the loss of his titanic talent.

For those of you who don't "get it," and who also measure a good time by the amount of beer you can swill in one evening: read a few books, learn to take pride in your family and friends, and come back to give Mitch a second chance. You just might like it!

5.0 out of 5 stars classic comedy album from the late master 7 Oct. 2009

Oblique. Warped. Surreal. Three words off the top of my head to describe the humor of Mitch Hedberg. This is the third album of his I've heard, and I think that this performance is possibly the best of them, owing to his more subdued delivery (more/fewer/different drugs?) and the humorously appropriate beat poet-style double-bass accompaniment.

While his humor didn't have quite the same level of intellectual content as George Carlin or Bill Hicks--although some of his wordplay takes some "processing" to get the humor--Hedburg was a master of one- and two-liners who adopted the persona of an addle-brained lunatic, albeit a discerning one, quite up to the task of upending various cliches and idioms of our culture in hilarious and unexpected ways. The effect of this rolling barrage of jokes is an experience you may find fatiguing if you have a weak diaphragm, a feat only a select few comedians can lay claim to.
5.0 out of 5 stars fruit on the bottom... hope on top! 20 May 2004

Mitch Hedberg is a comedy genius. I have been a serious comedy fan for most of my life, and in terms of the sheer creativity and inventiveness of his material, I'd easily put Mitch among the top five standup comics of all time. The material reminds me a lot of Steven Wright and (to a lesser extent) Woody Allen's standup comedy (yes, Woody Allen was a standup comedian once, and he was one of the best). The material is incredibly off-the-wall and absurd -- Mitch has a gift for taking even the most mundane things in life and finding the humor in them. Anyone who can make a screamingly funny joke out of the inside of the top of a yogurt container is seriously talented. In addition, Mitch's vocal style is unique. He talks as if he just learned to speak a few days ago, and continually puts the stress on the wrong syllables of words. It's weird but it's oddly charming, and you will find yourself talking like him if you listen to his jokes too much. This CD contains tons of really great material, and every comedy fan should own a copy of it. I hope that Mitch gets the recognition he deserves -- he's truly one of the shining stars of standup comedy.
