About the Author

Silicon Valley based technology entrepreneur Sam Mishra was educated at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and earned his MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management. He is the author of Strategic Case Analysis and Technology Strategy. Strategic Case Analysis: Business Concepts, Strategy Frameworks, and Solved Business Cases as Socratic Dialogues (ISBN 978-0-9798354-0-7) came out in 2007 as a paperback and has never gone out of print, being a popular CASE INTERVIEW book amongst MBA students to bag coveted consulting and marketing jobs. Strategic Case Analysis assists job seekers to ask deep questions that matter in terms of unearthing business problems during job interviews using the Socratic style of questioning back the interviewer, be she a consultant in McKinsey or the CEO of a start-up. That is the intelligent approach to solve case interviews in business settings, and frameworks like the 4 P's and the 5 C's of marketing or the Porter Five forces are only tools which should aid the interviewee in that quest. More than that, though, the book outlines practical business concepts like relational contracts, double marginalization, pareto negotioation frontier, etc. These, coupled with basic strategy frameworks such as the Ansoff Matrix, SWOT, and STP (segmenting, targeting, positioning) detailed in the book give power to small business owners and mid-level managers alike in solving their day to day business problems; giving meaning to the mantra that while 9 to 5 jobs are for those that seek only that, those who aspire to be 24 by 7 entrepreneurs need to be aware of NPV and CAPM along with concepts like integrative bargaining and forward integration. Strategic Case Analysis has eleven solved business cases and multiple brainteasers, along with standard case interview questions which you can ask as an interviewer and which you should solve as an interviewee, once you buy the book. Since Strategic Case Analysis, Mishra has published Technology Strategy as an eBook. Technology Strategy: Profitability Frameworks with Applications for Marketers, Innovators, and Entrepreneurs (ISBN 978-0-9798354-2-1) is for entrepreneurs who need a foothold in the hypercompetitive TECH business. Mishra teaches a graduate level three credit course titled Technology Strategy to MBA students in Sawyer Business School, Suffolk University, Boston.
