Summertime. A cruising spot for men, tucked away on the shores of a lake. Franck falls in love with Michel. An attractive, potent and lethally dangerous man. Franck knows this, but wants to live out his passion anyway.
The trailer may entice you but be prepared for a slow-moving voyeuristic film which has a predictable conclusion. I don't wish to give the plot lines away so will simply say that a Renault 25 and an improvised car park among trees both feature heavily. I imagine that a considerable amount of cost was saved with the few camera angles and locations used.
Yes, there is a story to be told, there is male nudity and one or two explicit scenes of a sexual nature but generally they are not additive to the film. One to watch on a very rainy day perhaps?
Nicely acted and directed. Interesting use of the car park to denote time passing. Plenty of tasteful man on man action in the bushes. Shows how easily we could be ruled by our emotions overriding common sense as Franck throws caution to the wind in accepting a sexual relationship with a murderer. It is implied that the murder was committed so that the murderer could be free to gain the love of Franck. A very mysterious ending, not really satisfactory, I wanted a resolution.
I watch this film every so often, and not just for the sexy bits where you may wish to push the pause button. It keeps drawing me back. Slow moving but in a totally appropriate way and at times very, very suspenseful.
