The story opens with a bang and events are set into motion within a few pages. Brynn Nelson awakes at midnight to find people outside her house, ringing the doorbell. Before she has time to understand what is going on her husband, Tom, is arrested by the FBI under suspicion of murder. Things start to unravel very quickly for Brynn and before she realises, her life has changed beyond anything she could have ever imagined.

The premise for the story is great and as it develops more twists and turns keep being introduced, many of which I would never have seen coming in a million years. Others however were slightly more predictable.

I did not expect or anticipate the final twist right at the end, that was an added bonus. However, I felt let down by Brynn's reaction to that person - I would have had a heck of a lot more anger and a need for revenge if I had finally solved the puzzle.

Overall, Brynn was a likeable woman who found courage and strength of character in a situation where most people would be unable to function properly. There are many other characters within the book but they are not developed to any extent, their role seems to be there to progress the story and provide background information.

In order to review some of the shortcomings with the plot the next part of the review contains minor spoilers.

After being arrested Tom was placed in a cell to await questioning for the murder of an FBI agent. I don't pretend to know much about police procedures but I find it strange that they allowed his wife Brynn to wait with him and for him to have an opportunity to pass on a secret coded message to her. Surely they would want to avoid any risk of statements being contaminated by partners.

I loved this book. It had me gripped from beginning to end. I love a page-turner and this certainly filled the bill. I couldn't put it down!

I agree with most reviewers who say the story gets off to a cracking start. As with many modern crime books this is often the case however, there are few authors who can keep the momemtum going and keep the story realistic and believablein the process. These are the hallmarks of a good crime writer and unfortunately there are not many around at the moment.

The autor of this book certainly needs to take a few lessons in plausability as this book was just littered with so many unbelievable events and characters it lost all creditablity.
I would have preferred a little less sensationalism and more realism and tighter plotting.
There were so many holes in it, it could have been used as a vegetable strainer.
The way the characters behave and the reasons behind what the did are just ridiculous.
I cannot say any more or for fear of spoilers, but suffice to say this book lost my interest about half way through when I realised where it was going and what the author was trying to do.

If you like salt then this book maybe for you because you will definately need more than a pinch to get your head around this one.

Action packed from the beginning and kept my interest throughout. This was one of those books I couldn't put down as it was continuous action from beginning to end. Really enjoyed reading this one though I have to say that the ending left me somewhat surprised as it felt rather like somebody had suddenly switched off a telly programme before the end leaving you hanging.....

Perhaps this means there is a follow up.

Fantastic read. Read in 2 days / Keeps you on the edge of your seat/ Poor ending though (epilogue was a bit of a let down)/ However it is a great book and worth every penny(Free when I got it but worth a bob or two to buy. Hope others by Moreton are as good as I have downloaded others.

I could not put this book down from the start. It kept me on the edge of my seat absorbing every fine detail to this intriguing story.
"How would it all end?" I kept asking myself as I propelled through every chapter hungry for the next.
Then an abrupt ending which was not believable or beaded any resemblance to the rest of the book.
A very disappointing end to a well written book.

This book so deserves 5 stars. All the time there is something happening, I couldn't put it down. Very well written and just the right amount of characters so you know who they all are but not do many that you get muddled. I will look out for more books by WIlliam CAsey MOrton.
