From the Back Cover

When Her Friend Goes Missing,
Every Minute Counts
Darcy St. James returns to Alaska to join a journalist friend undercover on the trail of a big story. But when Darcy arrives, she finds her friend has disappeared. Troubled by the cruise ship's vague explanation, Darcy uses her cover as a travel reporter to investigate further.
The last person Gage McKenna expects to see during his summer aboard a cruise ship leading adventure excursions is Darcy. And in typical Darcy fashion, she's digging up more trouble.
He'd love to just forget her--but something won't let him. And he can't help but worry about her as they are heading into more remote regions of Alaska and eventually into foreign waters. Something sinister is going on, and the deeper they push, the more Gage fears they've only discovered the tip of the iceberg.
"The third book in Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series ratchets up the action and suspense. It's difficult to stop yourself from peeking ahead to the end, but the ride is worth the anxiety." --"RT Book Reviews
""Pettrey delves into human trafficking in her latest tale of romantic suspense, which also revisits the McKenna family from "Submerged" and "Shattered." Series followers and readers who enjoy Lynette Eason, Irene Hannon, and DiAnn Mills will add this to their to-read list."" --Library Journal
""Totally, hands down, in love with this family and series! I have not been this enthralled since the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson! Pettrey does such an excellent job of developing the character of each and every family member, you can't help but want to join in on their journey through life!"" --The Christian Manifesto"

Abby is on a ship, drugged and then thrown overboard! She is a friend and former co-worker of Darcy St. James, a Christian reporter who we met in Book 2 (Shattered) when she helped the McKenna family prove Reef's innocence after being accused of murder. Darcy has been persuaded by Abby to come on this trip aboard the cruise ship Bering. Darcy knows Abby was investigating something but is still very much in the dark over what. The last call she received from Abby before boarding had been filled with fear which was not like Abby. Up until three years ago they had been partners in the undercover investigative reporting scene so knew each other very well. Darcy had vowed never to return but now finds herself eager to help her former partner. There's just one problem! Darcy cannot find Abby! Finding herself stuck in the elevator, once rescued she learns that the "man overboard" alarm was set off thus shutting down the elevators. Was it Abby? Will anyone tell her what happened?

Meanwhile the Mckenna family (Cole, Gage, Piper and Kayden minus Reef), owners of Last Frontier Adventures, along with Jake and Deputy Sheriff Landon Grainger (Piper's fiance) are involved in a tragic rescue as well as getting ready to meet the Bering in the morning to lead the adventure activities and kayak excursions. Gage is the one that is going to be traveling on the Bering for the duration of the trip whilst the others will meet him at the different ports of call as they head from the outer islands of Alaska to Russia. Gage can still not understand how his family can trust in a God that allows kids to did. Yes, Darcy certainly shook him up a little and he has not been able to get her out of his mind since she left Yancey five months ago. Although Darcy thought/hoped he would have made contact he has not.

I read the final book in the Dani Pettrey series. I liked the story! But the characters I found a little unbelievable at times. For instance kayaking mr muscle who likes to cook, really? If you read the others read this and you'll like the final instalment, but I still think the stories of these rather incredible siblings is unfinished.

This book is part of the Alaskan Courage series.

I started reading this book at 11 p.m. last night and stayed up until after 2 a.m. to finish it! I was so intrigued by the drama that was unfolding I just had to see it through in one sitting.

The book focuses on Darcy St. James who is an investigative journalist and has joined a cruise ship at the request of her good friend Abby. Abby is undercover – also a journalist – as she has a story to uncover on board the cruise ship. Abby goes missing and the book follows Darcy as she investigates the goings on behind Abby’s disappearance. She teams up with Gage, a guy she met five months earlier – I do not know if these characters are in the previous books in this series as I haven’t read them – when she was helping out on an investigation for Gage’s family.

There is definitely chemistry between Darcy and Gage but he has a broken heart because his son died and he also got hurt by his ex, a lawyer who uses people to get her own way. He tends to lump Darcy into that category too, although she has tried to make him see that she isn’t like that. He is very untrusting of her, especially as her job requires that she is quite deceitful about her identity and that she also uses people to find out what she needs to know for her story.

The book is pretty action-packed and the reader is compelled to read on to find out what will happen next. I found I could not put the book down!

Well worth a read and highly recommended.

If you like classic Dee Henderson (the True Devotion and O'Malley series), then you'll love Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series--Submerged, Shattered and Stranded. I've read all three, and really enjoyed them all. Stranded is the third in a series, but you don't have to read the other two first (although that might help you sort out all the characters--the McKenna family is large and growing).

When Darcy St James gets a call from her college roommate asking for help, she's immediately packed and up to Alaska, taking an undercover job as a journalist on the cruise ship Bering. Abby has arranged to meet her on board, but is nowhere to be found. Darcy thinks the crew members are hiding something, because no one wants to mention Abby--it seems that single women disappear from the ship all the time with no explanation.

Darcy's both relieved and apprehensive when she finds her new job involves working with Gage McKenna, who she met last winter on a journalism assignment in his home town (in Shattered). She's attracted to Gage, but he's not a Christian--but he is trustworthy, and she doesn't know who to trust on the Bering.

Stranded is well-put together, and is a real page-turner, as a romantic suspense novel should be. There are plenty of characters with secrets (always a good sign), and there are some good hints of what might be coming in future books in the series. The characters are all realistic, intelligent and have some personal depth, and the romance between Darcy and Gage is well-played. Pettrey has that enviable skill of making the feelings bounce off the page without specifically telling the reader what is happening. I think that romantic subtext is one of the things that all romance writers should aspire to.
