I found Straight to Heaven the better of the two Lilith Straight books so far. There was more of a structured plot and I got drawn into the fight between good and evil without knowing which side I wanted to win. Lilith is also starting to learn about her demonic powers a bit more and isn't quite so useless, though she is still far from perfect!
This is book two in the `Lilith Straight' series. **Warning** unavoidable spoilers for book 1 `straight to hell'.
Lilith is now on to her 19th seduction. She hates being a succubus, but anything is better than her 8 year-old daughter Grace having to do the job instead. Lilith is still as determined as ever to try and get out of her contract, she just has to find the right way to do it!
Thankfully she has her house back though, and has even put in a pool. Money isn't so tight anymore due to large amounts appearing in her account every so often, although now she has her old nosey neighbours to deal with again, as well as the ex-husband who seems to live to irritate her, and her niece Ariel and her shoplifting habit.
Seduction No 19 is turning out to be more trouble than expected too. How hard can it be to convince someone to mail a parcel when they are already at the post office? Extremely difficult if it turns out that said person has a sneaky guardian angel watching over them!
Having failed the first time, Miss Spry offers an incentive to try and keep Lilith motivated - complete this job, and Lilith's contract will be changed so that her daughter Grace never has to become a succubus.
With the stakes massively raised, Lilith must try to complete this job, but with an incubus also on the same assignment, and pesky guardian angels saving the day, can she really complete this seduction, and save Grace from the same fate?
I really enjoyed this book. It's a definite cross between urban fantasy and chick lit, and it really works!
Lilith is once again her bubbly, witty self, and always continues on no matter what the circumstance. She continues to fight for the people she loves - Grace, Ariel, Jasmine, Tommy, and refuses to accept anything but a full relationship with the lovely William. (Can't wait to find out what happens here!)
Miss Spry seemed to be not so overwhelmingly evil in this instalment, she offered incentives! and we heard quite a lot from her assistant Mr Clerk, who seemed to have a few secrets of his own. There were also some discoveries with regard to Lilith's birth and death, and a teaser at the end for the next book!
I liked the storyline. It was nice that the story focused on just one temptation that proved to be harder than expected, and also had in
there all the day-to-day happenings in Lilith's hectic life! The story was fast paced and kept me entertained and involved all the way through, this book is anything but boring!
Now the good news: we only have to wait `til December to find out what happens next! Yay!
Overall: A great combination of urban fantasy and chick lit!
8 out of 10.

The author has created a world that you can sink in to, but when you're reading the book and in the world, you're at the mercy of the author. If she wants to make you laugh, you laugh, if she wants to make you cry, you cry. Scott writes so incredibly that when Lilith is feeling one way, you can pretty much feel the same, or feel for her. I found myself tensely reading some scenes, the tension oozing off the page, fumbling in my haste to switch the page, and that's the best kind of book really isn't it? When you feel the atmosphere in the story/book as you're reading.
The other thing that makes this one of the best books, and such a joy to read is that it's not all tense and such, this is one of the books that needs a hazard label. "DO NOT READ IN PUBLIC PLACES" otherwise you're going to look like a total loony when you're grinning stupidly at the book, or choking in your attempts to stop laughing out loud on a packed tube, which is always awkward. This book seriously makes you laugh out loud with it's hilarity, and there's no greater thing than a book that can make that happen!
Lilith is even better in this installment, because you see her grow and change as a character, she learns from her mistakes and tries to do better which is a change from the first book where I think myself and a few other people where just like "SERIOUSLY NO WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT NO" haha! I really enjoy reading about Lilith because to me, she's a likeable character, she's witty, which is one of the things that I love in female leads, and she's quite chipper considering what's going on. You've gotta admire her drive to fight for everyone she loves, and to keep going, her willpower I guess. You can connect to her and admire her all at the same time, which makes the book so easy to read!
More mystery is shrouded around the plot, with Lilith's background or heritage or whatever you wanna call it, as well as with a few other characters. You're left burning to know more, needing to now more and needing the next installment NOW because you can't wait to find out and have your questions answered! Unique thing #867886 about this book is that it's a perfect, and in my case, never before been seen blend of urban fantasy and chick lit. I seriously haven't read anything before where these have been blended together, but it really works!
The mystery created in the book is the perfect blend, you get enough answers to satisfy you, and there's just enough questions so that you're intrigued to keep reading and when it ends and you still don't know, you're waiting excitedly for the next book with theories flying all over the place!
Straight To Heaven is a fast paced, hard to put down, hilarious read! With a plot that just thickens, it's the perfect sequel, with the right amount of mystery and intrigue, and plenty to make it unique, and a fantastic take on Angels and Demons and Hell and all that jazz!
