My nephew was able to recap the story to me in a factual and positive way. He hadn’t heard of the Windrush story before so he was keen to carry on the discussion. My niece also appreciated the timeline at the back of the book which added more context. The illustrations really brings the story to life
I would recommend this book to adults and children as a tool for informing and encouraging further discussion
and well researched facts. K.N. Chimbri tells the true story of that generation.
The Island life they left behind. The hopes and dreams that fuelled their emigration,
and the profound impact they had on British culture. Suitable for both children and adults,
a must read.'
