Now I bought this toy at my local Disney store, but I think this page would benefit from having at least one review on it

As a child of six when the original Toy Story came out, I had both Buzz and Woody when the toys were released. However grateful I was for that, its hard to admit the originals lacked the coolness seen in the films, this Buzz Lightyear IS the Buzz you see in the film with one omission - the karate chop action (though the one feature I never cared for)

The most striking thing once you get Buzz is the packaging - if you remember the awesome spaceship he came in in the films, they've done a fantastic job of recreating this (even down to the cardboard wings!), you'll get a certificate of authenticity with every Buzz too!

Onto the action figure itself though, he is proportioned wonderfully and he looks exactly like the Buzz we all love - he has many more points of articulation than the original toy released for the first film, his arms and legs swivel and rotate - his waist is on a ratchet and covered entirely in soft rubber (no hard plastic this time) which moves around, up, down and side to side

He has his brilliant Star Command flip up communicator in his arm, which when opened and closed makes wonderful sound effects, his laser has the same 'pulsating laser light' sound you know from the film also

The highlight of the toy visually however - is his 'high pressure space wings'.

Simply put, this is THE best Buzz Lightyear figure Disney have ever released. I'm going to write this from the perspective of a DAD and as a FAN of the TS movies whilst growing up myself. It's even superior to the one they released with Toy Story 3. It's basically the Buzz from the actual movie, even the box is identical to the great one we saw in the first movie!

My four year old son is so attached to this toy now, it's unreal.

The 3 modes are very fun. Blue button gives you 'Space Ranger mode' in which Buzz will just talk at random, with tons of sayings about Evil Emperor Zurg and so on, then we get 'Toy mode' which fans of the first movie will recognize from Buzz's tv commercial when he realizes he's not real, and finally we're given 'Interactive Buzz' via the green button... Man, that is something in itself.

My son asks Buzz how he is to be greeted with "Hello my friend, and how are you today?" or "You're one of my favourite life forms." To the more funny everyday life situation such as our newborn baby screaming the other day when his lunch was finished and we heard Buzz Lightyear (from all the way in Junior's bedroom) saying "Now now, there's no need to raise your voice I can hear you perfectly fine!"

The laser is the exact same as the movie, the star command contacter is also perfect, the head movement when he speaks is great, the lights pop out when you push the red button, the space helmet makes a noice when opened/closed (also Buzz acknowledges that your child has done this and even tells him to be careful with highly expensive government equipment if he's too rough opening/closing it!

I bought this is a gift for my son who is 18 months old, it's designed for older kids but he has been obsessed with it when he saw the toy in shops so we took a chance when we saw it in the sale on Amazon.

The toy comes in Buzz's own spaceship just like in the movie but it is worth removing Buzz from the packaging before you give the toy to a child. It is tied in pretty securely and takes a little while to get out. I can imagine older kids going crazy whilst you try and take off the sellotape and untie him.

The figure is not too heavy and my 18 month old can easily hold him and fly him around the room. He has several different modes. The toy and spaceranger modes have the usual phrases you'd expect from this figure but the best one is the interactive mode where Buzz will answer you back. If he is left alone for a minute or two you can hear him asking "Hello, is anyone there" and if you speak too loudly he lets you know to keep it down. In interactive and spaceranger mode Buzz's head moves and if you open his helmet he will gasp for air and then thank you when you pull the helmet down.

A push of the red button sees his wings fly out which was a bit of a shock and scared my young child but he soon got used to it and is now his favourite feature. When you fly Buzz through the air the sound effects are excellent and as you land him on the ground he announces that was an excellent adventure.

The only downside is that it is difficult to get the figure to stand upright on the floor but that's a very minor complaint, he keeps my son happy for hours and is a toy that will still keep him entertained for years to come. I can't reccomend this enough, it is fantastic for any child who loves Toy Story and several different age ranges will enjoy this and get something out of it.
