I was a bit worried initially about the challenge of ensuring my 8yo Son was educated with the facts pertaining to Black History, given the level of atrocity suffered by our ancestors. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that both The Story of Rosa Parks and The Story of Martin Luther King Jr gave a broad outline of inequalities and the discrimination faced along with sections where as a Parent, you could get your child's opinion on what they think is fair and just. Important lessons can be learned from literature such as this and it also fosters the idea of diversity being a good thing and if this type of material was around when I was growing up and before, there would be less discrimination and prejudice around today.

A must for those who believe the National Curriculum does not cover many of the important issues that history has shown.
