Storm Surge is a great addition to the series and when it arrives in paperback, I shall eagerly read the next one: Deadly Shores.
There are multiple threads in this story including two pilots captured and trying to escape from the dominion, Dennis Silva and crew wandering around to find friendly races to help the alliance, and of course the usual Grik issues.
The imperials take more of a back seat in this book, as do the Doms, but the core characters have some time spent with them and the characters are fleshed out well.
Just over half way through, there were some good set pieces and action and was a case of reading as quickly as possible to find out what happened.
Some good advances in the story, and one of the better books in the series and I enjoyed it. There is a huge scope for Taylor Anderson to expand the new universe and hopefully there will be more stories to come.
Anderson has built an amazing world that grows with each book, he increases the richness of detail and adds new layers to explore. We get to meet a 'king' of the native griks on borno, someone we know! Big surprise!!
Walker leads where others follow, taking the fight to the jaaps! And the griks both.
Overall an engaging addition and a pearl of a book!
Taylor Anderson's weird alternate Earth circa 1943 is just as captivating as all the previous episodes. As with all books about alternate universes you have to suspend belief and just go with the flow. Anderson makes that easy to do.
If you are new to the series I recommend you start at book one and read the books in order otherwise it might be a wee bit confusing. Enjoy!
