5.0 out of 5 stars "You're Welcomed On My World" 28 May 2013
By Tyrone Nicholson - Published on Amazon.com

Another Motown group that didn't get the attention they deserved. I had the single "It's A Lonesome Road", again one of my favorite Jamerson bass parts, back in 1970 but never paid attention to the 'B' sides until I recently obtained this CD and I'm blown. These guys can blow; special emphasis pertains to "If I Could Give You the World" also; that song is serious. I also like their rendition of "Rainy Night In Georgia". It's amazing that some songs endure the test of time and taste & can always have a favorable element no matter who covers it. As I mentioned, "Lonesome Road" has so much energy and dynamic musicianship to it; it seems there are only two or three chords to it and those cats are so melodic that when I'm playing (on the bass) I always hear so much more. Especially JJ (he proves to be a genius no matter who he played behind). I laboured for months wheather I was going to purchase this at such a price, but it was well worth the labor. Thanks, Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars STOP THE WORLD AND LET THEM ON 24 Sept. 2013
By UJIMA - Published on Amazon.com

I have read many reviews of this album - each inaccurate and unfairly judging them because they did not fit into the classic "Motown Sound." Well in reality, I would put them in the same league as The Originals and the Fantastic Four - great harmonies, several lead singers and an ability to tackle any song and make it their own. I first had this album when it was released in 1971 and when I lost it, I searched far and wide until (thanks to Amazon) I got it again. Though, like most of the other Motown artists on the VIP label, they remained largely unknown to the general public, the Hearts of Stone were, by no means, short on talent. You will love "It's A Lonesome Road", "If I Could Give You The World", "One Day", "Yesterday's Love Is Over" and their takes on "Rainy Night in Georgia", "Thank You Faletinme Be Mice Elf Agin" and "You've Made Me So Very Happy." Now if I could only get their more recent release with the reconstructed group . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Unlukiest Soul Group EVER 31 Mar. 2005
By Mr. A. Saywell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Don't hesitate - just gettit! IF u r lucky enuf 2 c in vinyl form u will pay a mint 4 it - hell its worth it!!

Hearts of Stone have just gotta b the unluckiest soul group EVER. This album, particularly my outstanding track IF I CUD GIVE U THE WORLD, is a slab of the finest soul - 35 years on and STILL sounds superb. They got caught up in the move of Motown from Detroit 2 LA and .... the rest is history.

Don't know anything else 'bout them, whether they folded or not or reformed.

Sometimes an album just blows you away and this is 1 of them! OK so all the tracks aren't original material but what the heck - soooooo soulful and a major disaster that they didn't make it big, very big indeed. Can't praise it enuf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Alive and Kicking... 1 Dec. 2005
By John J - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is John Myers, one of the original Hearts of Stone... I am still writing, singing, and performing. The other members, Floyd Lawson, Lindsey Griffin, and Carl Cutler are all in good health and enjoying life... Floyd lives in Canada, Lindsey is in Mississippi, and Carl is in Philadelphia... I am in Knoxville, TN where my wife and I write and perform. We had a group reunion a few years ago, and plan on another one in the near future... Let me hear from you... Myers1977@bellsouth.net
5.0 out of 5 stars From Hitsville Studios' Last Days 3 Sept. 2010
By Paul M. Lanning - Published on Amazon.com
NOT TO BE MISSED. Classic soul vocal quartet (New England-based) lead tenor Floyd Lawson/lead bari Carl Cutler, plus their guitarist Teddy Royal. Recorded at Motown's Hitsville studio in 1970 at the time when Motown was moving its operations to Cali. Prod./arr: Hank Cosby/Paul Riser/Wade Marcus. Same production team & same crisp, popping accompaniment as the Spinners It's A Shame album also cut during this period.
