Author already has written another 'Self help Book' and stating another 3 in the pipe line!
Recommends another 20 in the book!
To quote the author - "Are you happy in yourself right now? If not put, this book down, look up a good shrink and start the process of once and for all getting your head sorted. This will be the BEST investment you will ever make and without this you will be building your life on shaky foundations."
So as she says you don't need the book or the 20 others she recommends!
(Most of the 5 star reviews have only ever read one or two books and their second book was her other book!)
There's a caveat, of course: you need to want to be successful. Sounds odd; Kate covers this, but I know from my own experience that there are plenty of wannabe business owners who specialise in procrastination rather than implementation. Kate is open about this: "simply owning [this book] will have negligible impact on your life. You have to actually do something."
This book focuses more on the "how to do" rather than the "what to do", although the latter isn't ignored. It's a short book, but packed with good advice on just about every page. More than that, Kate is brutally honest about her own successes and failings, both in her business life and her personal life, and explains why she now does the things she does.
There are some who won't like this book. Those who are offended by the f word; want hard-to-hear truths wrapped in fluffy cotton wool; are running a hobby business and are happy or happyish with that; don't like blunt opinions; want to gently dip your toe in the water: give this a miss.
For the rest, this is a love story. Kate's passion and unyielding drive to be successful in her business comes across, as does her passion to help others to be successful in their businesses. Kate's driving the Land Rover of success at high speed over the rocks of real life; if you're looking for the chauffeur-driven limousine of comfort, you've come to to the wrong place.
- The act of reading self help books is not the same as actually executing and working on your business.
- All of this stuff about getting you head right etc is about putting me in a position to actually execute.
Also this book isn't telling you to completely abandon self help books (in fact it recommends some great ones). It's telling you to avoid the phony authors who prey on your insecurities and promote BS.
The bottom line is that this book provides you with practical instructions and exercises to define the road map of where you want to go and attempts to get you in the right frame of mind in order to actually start executing.
I'm so glad that I read this book and can't wait to get through the other book: JFDI.
