This is a fantastic book, well written with hundreds of great photos. The passages relating to Stockwell and Operation Hurlock are fascinating. Probably the best book yet published about the Met' s firearms unit. Nice work Steve

Quite an expensive kindle book but for non police parts would be quite confusing. The book is rather repetitive even though it goes from one incident to another. You would be better reading this as a paper book as it is not designed for kindle. The glossary is at the end so some abbreviations are hard to work out. There are better books out there about SO19.

Great read from start to finish.

Lots of unique information and photos from recent events often blurred by the press. Chapter on the Stockwell tube incident particularly compelling - good to get another perspective from someone who was actually there.

This was a present for a relative so I can only go on hearsay, by which he is pleased and says it is a truthful account.
He was a Commander at NSY in Special Branch so was very interested as to the authenticity and whether it was genuine as today there are a number of books similar.

This book was well worth waiting for......the author takes you through the humble beginnings of how the Unit was set up after the tragic murder of 3 cops, the early days of firearms training and the selection of weaponry. The IRA's London campaign in the 70's, 80's and 90's, to sensational sieges, dramatic robberies, shooting incidents and the enduring fight against international terrorists. Never before seen photographs adorn the book throughout and illustrate the changes in specialist kit and firearms over the years. Developments in tactical training have reflected the ever changing landscape of London's criminal activities. If you thought armed policing was an easy day job for these professionals, thumb through these pages and your opinion will be changed forever...

This book is a fantastic illustration of what being an armed officer entails. It shows the very real dangers that the police face despite working in a country that isn't perceived to have a gun problem. An eye opening and brutal account.
