Having read the later attempts by Susan Lewis such as 'Silent Truths' and 'Strange Allure' and thoroughly enjoying them I decided to read 'Stolen Beginnings' as I was intrigued as to whether Lewis' earlier novels were as good as her later ones. 'Stolen Beginnings' didn't disappoint at all. The main charcters Madeline, Marion and Paul are very strong charcters who are all beautifully written about, the setting was fantastic, everything about the book was in fact wonderful. The plot also is top quality. The plot features around the lives of very different cousins Marian, who is an university graduate in a dead end job and Madeline the strip o gram who are living in a not so nice flat in Bristol. The plot gets going when the one man who Madeline hasn't yet 'had' goes to their flat for a party and falls in love with the painfully shy Marian instead of the glamorous Madeline. The plot proceeds from this point onwards... This a brilliant effort by Susan Lewis who manages to get everything what a reader can ever want in a story, love, passion, jealousy, deciet, passion and most of all intigue. Must have for Susan lewis fans!

This is brilliant read and you find yourself reading it again and again. Out of all the Susan Lewis Novels this is definately the best, if you have not read this, but it now.

Just read this book again for the 2nd time and have now loaned it to my sons partner. It is simply the best of all Susan Lewis's books. I live in Bristol and actually went to junior school with her, if you want to know about her early life read Just One More Day and I defy you not to cry. Cant wait for her next book.

Was really looking forward to reading this book as have enjoyed everything this author has written. However have read 29% on my Kindle and am giving up (very unusual for me as am avid reader). I have not got into the book at all and am finding anything to do other than read it.

This book was the strangest susan Lewis book I have read. It didn't quite come together though the last chapter was pretty powerful! Worth a read but I almost quit a few times. Too much going on and not enough depth. Could have made more of the background story and less of the emotions of the three main characters.

I started reading this book and quickly realised I had read it some time ago, I did not remember the plot and the book cover is different, but the story is the same. I did not enjoy the story the first time and reading it a second time has not improved my opinion, so I stopped after chapter 2. I think the main reason I did not enjoy it was that I did not like any of the characters, and the plot just felt too unreal.

If you have never read any of Susan Lewis's books, I would suggest you try them as some are very enjoyable I have read many of them, but no longer find them the "fresh" new read they once were.

Sorry I'm a huge fan of Susan Lewis but not keen on this book probably because the female characters have no redeeming features that I can see also found the story very convoluted and unlikely, carried on to the end but would have given up half way through couldn't have cared less what happened to any of the characters which is most unusual when I enjoy a book, having said that, still a big fan of the author, but not this book.
