This is a book to pick up and gaze at often, I can see so many possibilities to do something decorative and fun, trouble is where to start! I'll probably make a start on some of the decorative hearts, four at a time, hanging down on a ribbon and I'd love to have a go at the butterflies in boxes, but for those I need to track down the boxes and the stencil (the author is a designer of many items and is showcasing lots of these - stencils being just one).

There's a rose to cross stitch, it's on paper but this is too fiddly for me - Aida will do for that one, then there's the ribbon edging and the crochet edging on those slips, buttons to cover and decorate with cross stitch or crochet etc, so much to do, so little time. I've always loved fabric covered books, the one in here is decorated with a cross stitch alphabet, red on ecru, cream or white will be wonderful, and there's just the thing for a kitchen windowsill - gingham flowers in empty little water bottles, these are decorated with paper - again this is something Eline designs, but nothing to stop me from using any which appeals.

The birds and their houses is one of my favourites, these are going to be made in my bathroom colours so I can show them off to everyone going in there, my efforts will not be in vain!

There are so many lovely ideas in here (45) and instructions aren't that comprehensive, but the pics are good and anyone who's a crafter will be able to adapt and overcome as it were, besides they're all pretty basic a degree won't be a necessity for them.

This is a lovely book. Everyone I've shown it to has said they want to buy a copy. Good for novice and experienced crafters too. Nice range of projects. Quite girly but you could always pick your own colours.

This book contains 47 projects to help you bring a touch of vintage style to your home. It encompasses a selection of crafts including cross stitch, embroidery, paper crafts, and crochet, although the majority of the projects require stitching.

The projects include fabric baskets, fabric birds, cushions, a pin cushion, book covers, bags, bunting, a purse, hanging hearts, fabric flowers and many others. The good thing is a lot of the projects are fairly small and simple so could be made pretty quickly and there are plenty to choose from so you are sure to find something you like.

The cross stitch, crochet and embroidery patterns are in the back of the book along with templates. For the larger projects (like the bags, book covers etc) there are diagrams showing what size and shape fabric you need to cut. There is also beautiful photography throughout the book of the finished projects but no step by step photos or diagrams to accompany the written instructions on how to actually put them together.

If you are a fan of vintage style you are sure to love this book.

I have lots of craft books [very lots]. This was a 'recommended by Amazon' one and having read reviews thought it would be worth investing in. There are some great ideas and not all of them are difficult or take a long time to do. Some could be done as a group effort.

Found this little gem of a book quite by accident at my local library.

As a relatively newbie to the sewing world some of the projects will need a bit more skill but, that is the idea, as the lovely projects that I found in this book are so different and interesting that I knew I had to have my own copy to experiment with ideas and projects and to learn a bit more sewing knowledge and practice.

Well worth the money, a lovely book to own.

Lynda

Another winner from Amazon (I really must hide my credit card!!). Wonderful projects which even a novice like me can grasp, beautiful photographs (which make a book for me) and gorgeous text that adds to the whole ambience of the book. Well done to th author - I hope more books follow suit.

This is a lovely book full of inspiring ideas. However the condition of the book was described as having a 'crease on the front and rear pages' when in fact each page was creased throughout the book. Had i known i would have bought a new one, as i didn't mind a few superficial creases but the presentation of the book was spoilt. Order a new one and you wont be dissappionted!

I read about this book in the "Style at Home" magazine and immediately ordered a copy. It has some super cute ideas and is beautifully photographed. I have already made some of the items and have included the pictures on my blog; [...] . Have a look at them and then seriously consider buying Eline's book!
