A brilliant writer and interprets his own material lovingly. It's a quirky voice which may not appeal to some, but I've always thought he does his own songs better than almost anyone except Art Garfunkel, who shares a track here. Interesting to hear the other voices too and new slants on some songs from way back like 'Playground' and the weird and wonderful MacArthur Park.

I hadn't expected to like this album as much as I do, but I was pleasantly surprised. The entire album seems to have a country feel to every track, and it could be argued that the songs are hardly duets as such since Jimmy's voice is prominent on all tracks, in particular Macarthur Park where - it seems to me - the only contribution made by Brian Wilson is the backing track, though it works a treat. An excellent album, and at a full 60 mins extremely good value. Maybe for the next album Jimmy we can have some new material please.

I've always loved Jimmy Webb's songs - Art Garfunkel's Watermark, an album of them, is something I'd save from a burning building - but when it comes to singing them, his grasp exceeds his reach, to twist the usual phrase. It's not stopped me buying quite a few of his albums, though, besides those of his more able interpreters.

So I had high hopes of this album, where each song is a duet, supposedly, with someone more famed for, and more skilled with, their vocal talents. But every song seems to be about 80% Jimmy and 20% the duettist, and I'm not even sure I'd recognise some of the duettists if I didn't have the details showing as each track plays.

I don't think of Jimmy as an ungenerous person, so I don't know what went wrong here, but it's a sadly missed opportunity.

If the proportions had been reversed, or even if they had been 50:50, this would have been a much better album.

The CD arrived earlier than I was expecting, excellent delivery as usual. I love the CD but was rather surprised the although various artists are listed as featured on the tracks it was often difficult to distinguish their contribution as Webb's voice was dominant throughout.

Jimmy Webb must be one of the greatest songwriters of modern times. This (with duets with big stars too) is one of his best albums and puts a different slant on some of his material. I love it.

Some nice performances from Jimmy's guests on this cd. Outstanding is Joe Cocker on "The Moon's A Harsh Mistress". Nice acoustic guitar version of "If These Walls Could Speak".

Terrific songs, of course, and matched by fantastic arrangements and interesting vocal collaborations. You may need to listen to it a couple of times before it really hooks you though.
