Ron Moody calls his book a 'Biography'. After reading it I am glad to say that far from being another one of those boring biographies, it is a very gripping and entertaining life story offering much, much, much more for anyone who is interested in the theatre, or who is aspired to be or is an actor, or just likes a true and exciting story.

As 'Fagin' in the Dicken's inspired 'Oliver' Ron became famous around the world on stage and in film. He lives it again in detail. His way of doing this is by understanding and captivating his audience every time he performed . Out of the discipline that kept him going on the stage, he has even drawn from his time as a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science (Where else?) a theory called 'The Projection Curve' - which could be useful to some of our politicians as well !

And so his wish as a child to be either a Clown/Comedian or an Academic at a University has been solved. Ron Moody has 'Considered the situation; and as this book shows he has managed to do both.

So buy the book and sing along with Ron as you read of his remarkable adventure in the tough world of acting .

This is an unusual, idiosyncratic and playful memoir that I found very intriguing. The writer dips into his diaries and focusses on certain themes, events and productions to capture his development as an actor and his attitude as a man. He is refreshingly unsentimental and sometimes amusingly ascerbic about show business (and certain colleagues), and reveals a very bright and lively mind as he ponders what went right and what wrong. We find out about his academic days at the LSE, his battles and bonds with his fellow actors and a farcical encounter with Frankie Howerd. I enjoyed the book greatly, and hope another volume appears soon.

I have always been fascinated by the character of Fagin created by Ron Moody in the musical Oliver! I have watched the film many times and really enjoyed his performance. I have the West End cast recording and have listened to it scores of times over the last 40 years. I found Ron's book told me alot about his reactions to people and their reaction to him and I was amazed at the full story behind Oliver! and his on stage relationship with Georgia Brown and how difficult is was. I would like to have known more about the film and his recollections of that. I know Ron did much more than the book tells you and perhaps Oliver! has had such an impact on his life that other things seem less important but more from his diaries would answer that one. A good read but not conventional by any means. Give it a go if you are a fan of Fagin.

Ron Moody has written a very good book which I felt touched a nerve with me as he tells it as he sees it noi frills, no "darling you were wonderful". I would like to see more show people realise who they really are, just people like you ande me. Mr Moody thankyou for your honesty and showing even stars, at least some have brains.
