Product Description

Product Description

All six episodes from the third series of the hit BBC television comedy starring Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill as Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade. 'Hoalidays' sees Jack and Victor enjoying themselves in Canada, but there's a question over whether they will ever get home to Craiglang. It's back to school for the boys in 'Swottin' - and despite their best efforts they are finding it hard to concentrate. Craiglang becomes a centre for gambling in 'Cairds', when Tam wins a buggy from a disabled friend in a game, and Jack and Victor have to come up with a plan to claim it back. 'Big Yin' sees the Craiglang Young Team running riot in the Craiglang neighbourhood. But Big Innes will take them all in hand, as long as the boys promise to stay off the Midori. In 'Oot', an old friend of the boys called Archie decides to return to the outside world after many years of staying inside his flat. How will he fare? In 'Aff', Victor is feeling sorry for himself as everyone has been ignoring him. He wants some sympathy from his family and hatches a plan to get some. But his best laid plans go badly astray.

The third series of this hit Scottish Comedy was just as good, if not, better than its predecessors 1 & 2. The show was a 'spin-off' from 'Chewin The Fat' sketches in which Jack & Victor featured.
The first episode kicks off with the pair in Canada, where they were left at the end of series two. Jack is over visiting his daughter and her family, and this is the first time we have seen them outwith their home environment of the Glasgow suburb of 'Craiglang.' This is an excellent start as Jack & Victor believe they are in heaven in comparison to home.
The series continues with the two friends back home, getting up to more antics. Wageing war on the Neds, helping an old pal adjust to 21st century life, going back to school, quiz nights at the 'Clansman' and they even build a wee casino in Jacks flat.
This is a great buy, as is Series 1 & 2. And ensures you be laughing along with Jack & Vistor as age catches up with them!

I first saw this series when I was holidaying in Nairn last year, and I was hooked from the word go. Although myself and my family are from south of the border, and sometimes struggle to understand the Glaswegian terms, we still found plenty to enjoy. We immediately went out and bought the complete first and second series, and bought this third series as soon as it became available. I have since lent them to various members of my family, and everyone one of them has become a fan, especially my seventy year old father. Perhaps he identifies with some of the characters! I am just waiting for the BBC to wake up and realise what a gem they have in this series, and start showing it nationwide.

Up to the usual standard of 'The Game' as we afficionados like to call it. Another 3 cracking episodes. Funny as ever. I think that although Jack & Victor are the principal characters and are great, the supporting cast is equally brilliant - Isa (classic lift scene in #7), Navid, Auld Eric,Tam and especially Winston.
The only SG to have any 'extras' which is an optional audio commentary on each episode and is well worth a listen.
The Game stands up to repeated viewings and never loses its charm. Marvellous!

Still Game is very much Scottish humour at its best. Jack and Victor, the heroes of the series are two elderly widowers living in a rough Glasgow suburb. The comedy is along the lines of The Royle family, although it isn't based on the one set, but the humour comes from the day-to-day events that they come up against. There is a touch of pathos, but the characters are so true to life that you learn to love them early on.
A true gem from the 'Chewin' the Fat series.

Still Games old men scetchs are flesehd out in this geat Sitcom in the same way Rab C came from the naked video series. It's the funniest Scottish sitcom in years mind you their hasn't been much competition, Don't be put off by the fact it's about old men It's not last of the summer wine!the jokes are very funny and crude at times:)The only problem has nothing to do with the series but the DVD version has the 6 episodes split between two seperate DVD's I think when hey can fit all the 24 episodes of American sitcoms into double disc sets they could have at least put the full series into one DVD packadge. Any way go buy it now for belly hurting laughs!!!
