Hello, I'm Stevie MacFarlane. I live in New York State in a very rural area surrounded by hundreds of acres of state woodlands. It's truly a beautiful and somewhat isolated location, but I appreciate the night sky, unpolluted by the glare of streetlights, allowing me to view the stars in all their glory.
I love the wide variety of birds that visit the feeders and the sight of newly born fawns as they travel by my windows with their mothers. Wild Turkeys abound and they and the deer are always a driving hazard, but for three seasons of the year I enjoy it up here.
Because of the elevation we get a lot of snow. As a rule it is measured in feet, not inches. Many times we have to shovel out our windows and during particularly bad storms it's nearly impossible to keep up. Most everyone up here has at least one four-wheel drive vehicle.
I'm not going to say much about myself. If you've read, Widow On The Loose, you know by the dedication that my husband of many years passed away last September. Since then I've been much less forthcoming about my personal life. Things change when you find yourself alone, without the protection of your husband. I guess that's not a statement most feminists would support, but in my case it's true. I miss him terribly and now and then pour my heart out on my Widowhood blog.
As far as writing, it's something I've always done. I think avid readers learn very early on what brings them peace, what challenges them, what inspires them etc. Writing has always been one of the few things I did for me, simply because I enjoyed it. When I was first published in 2012 I found that others enjoyed my books too. Not all readers, but some and that's good enough for me. I currently have authored more than 20 novels.
MacFarlane is not my married name, but it was my great-grandparents name. They and their children immigrated to The United States from Scotland. One of those children was my grandmother. I use it with pride.
