Hello to all my readers in the UK!
If you’re reading this, thank you for finding me. Not many people do. Maybe it’s because my name is too common—I thought once about using a nom de plume, but didn’t. Maybe it’s because I don’t get many reviews (you could change that a wee bit), although you’ll see that summed over all my books, they’re generally positive. I know you have many books and authors to choose from, so I’m honored and humbled that you are considering or have read one of mine.
You’re here on Amazon UK because you love to read. Me too. OK, maybe you’re here to give someone an entertaining book—that’s fine too. I love to tell stories, so either way, you’ll be purchasing some exciting fiction, each book unique and full of action, characters, scenes, and themes. Some are national, others international, and some are mixed; some are in the mystery/suspense/thriller category, others sci-fi, and some are mixed-genre.
I started telling stories at an early age, making my own comic books and writing my first novel the summer I turned thirteen—little of that remains (did I hear a sigh of relief?). I collected what-ifs and story ideas for years while living in Colombia and different parts of the U.S. (I was born in California and eventually settled on the East Coast of the US after that sojourn in South America), and seeing a bit of the world at scientific events and conferences, always mindful of what should be important to every fiction writer—the human condition. Fiction can’t come alive—even sci-fi—without people (they might be ETs in the case of sci-fi, of course). And that means I've developed a healthy respect for people in different countries--their opinions, diversity, and cultures.
I started writing in earnest about fifteen years ago—short stories, novellas, and novels—we’d become empty-nesters (Yankee-jargon for kids off to universities) and I was still in my old day-job. I published my first three novels during that time. Now I’m a full-time writer. My wife and I moved from Boston to the NYC area a while back, so both cities can be found in some novels, but many foreign settings appear there too.
You can find more information about me at my website: http://stevenmmoore.com. I’m also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/authorStevenMMoore; and Goodreads.
By the way, I don't give away my novels, but I do give away my short fiction. So does my new collaborator A. B. Carolan. See my blog categories "Steve's Shorts," "ABC Shorts," and the list of PDFs free for the asking on the webpage "Free Stuff & Contests" at my website.
My mantra has always been the following: If I can entertain one reader with each book, that book is a success. But maybe I can do better than that. After all, you found me!
For those who look for taste preferences in bios (nothing wrong with that!), I prefer Irish whiskey to smoky Scotch, but I'll e-toast you with either one--or American bourbon for that matter (that covers all the whiskeys). Slainte!
