I co-authored a book with Steven, so I really shouldn't be surprised, but the combined Loomus cartoons in Guide to Life have got me all excited. Not just for the humour of the messages, not even for the wonky drawings that are hilarious in themselves, but for his depth of insight and subtle grasp of what we humans are like. He is sometimes referred to as an "absurdist", but I think he must know that taking something to extremes is the best way to reveal it. I'm buying lots of copies to send to my friends, while copies last.

Steven Appleby is the funniest man in the world. Perceptive, smart, rude and a great cartoonist. This collection of his strips is incredibly good.
