I've seen the new DVD and it rocks! The concert is great - taken from MEN gig in September 2005 it's brilliant - the band are on top form.

The documentary is amazing - I think the band did it themselves, and it's really good to find out how an album comes together with studio sessions, artwork, tracklistings, touring and then onto the live album!

The four promos are superb too - get your hands on this - it's been a couple of years and nobody's better than the Stereophonics Live!

When Stereophonics burst onto the scene with a wave of singalong rock and bouncy acoustic numbers they were absolutely electric to see live, but in 2000-2004 their sound evolved and they became much more acoustic focussed. This unfortunately impacted on their once lively concerts and gave them perhaps a slightly unfair 'dull' tag.

However, when this band struck a surprise return to their rock form on their awesome 2005 LP "Language, Sex Violence, Other?", Kelly Jones and the boys also figured out what was going wrong with their live shows and were quick to cut out the filler and restrict the set to simply a Greatest Hits compilation, with the odd curveball thrown in from time to time.

This approach worked incredibly well and finally gave Stereophonics their live edge back, as well as reminding the rock public why they were so highly regarded in the first place. When Stereophonics rock, they do it well. They are one of the few bands who can fit the phrase that you have to hear them live to truly see why they are good, in these days of over-produced pop-rock they are one of the rare bands who actually sound better live than on record.

Cutting the set to feature just the major tracks from their career works well for them and makes the listener realize just how many Stereophonics songs they actually know well enough to sing along to. The band's infectiously catchy rock is something which does stick in the mind and any rock critic would agree that a casual listener would know at least 5-10 of these tracks even without perhaps realizing it beforehand.

Jones' hacksaw voice is perfect for a live hard rock track and the band simply sound like they're having fun again.
