Product died after 2 months and support have ignored me for over a week
18 September 2017
I'm not one to usually leave a negative review on a product but I'm at my wits end.
After deciding to buy a new audio interface for my PC, I chose the UR22 MKII. Everything was running smoothly for around 2 months when suddenly one day, the unit would not power on at all. The unit is never moved and is only ever plugged into my PC, so I'm really unsure what happened. I tried new cables, a new power supply, plugging it into a friend's PC, but no luck at all. The unit appeared to have just died randomly.
I guessed this would be no bother as it should be covered by a warranty right? Well as of the time of writing I've attempted to contact Steinberg multiple times, over phone, support ticket and tweet but I've had no response. I first attempted to contact them by support ticket on Friday the 8th, over a week ago, and have since heard nothing back.
This was essentially £100 down the drain for 2 months worth of owning an audio interface, when my other one lasted for 5 years. I am reluctant to leave a bad review but as it looks like I'm not getting my money back and essentially have a useless hunk of metal sitting on my PC, I figure it's worth leaving the honest review.
I might just be an unlucky case, but I think it's right that I leave a negative review if my product literally fails after two months and their support ignore me for over a week.
EDIT: After contacting Amazon Support about this, they agreed to send a replacement out and collect my faulty one for free. I really can't fault Amazon at all on this. I still haven't had any contact from Steinberg themselves though which is disappointing, but I'm happy to liaise through Amazon if it gets the product replaced. Hopefully this one lasts more than 2 months!
Never ending praise for Amazon as a service, but sceptical of Steinberg's products now.
