Closed type Headphones
The close type ear cups feature thick leather padded cushions built from sound dampening foam, designed to offer passive noise reduction from loud surroundings and improve comfort over prolonged use.
The SteelSeries Siberia v2 headset is the successor to SteelSeries Siberia Full-size USB headset, which revolutionized several features in the headset industry. The Siberia v2 features a beautiful design combined with functionality and performance, all in one headset.
The Siberia v2 features a retractable microphone that can be hidden in the left earcup, which means you can use it when you need it, but don't have to flash it in public if you don't want to.
Quality Driver Units
It's one thing to have a beautiful exterior, but it's what's inside that makes these one of the best quality headsets on the market. A 50 mm driver unit with crystal clear sound in high, low, and mid-range ensures quality output for multiple uses.
The integrated volume controller on the cord offers an option to handle sound volume manually. This feature is especially useful when you are using your Siberia v2 USB with other devices and don't have swift access to setting volume levels in your software.
The earcups feature a noise reducing foam, which helps you to focus on the important audio or voice communication, and not being disturbed or interrupted by outside noise.
What's in the Box
The SteelSeries Siberia v2 Headset and a 2m extension cord.
What Critics Are Saying About the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Headset
"... Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer provided my main test bed for audio accuracy, and I was surprised at how efficiently stereo sound works in the game. I was able to determine the direction of enemy fire and distant explosions as well as I can wile using my 5.1 headphones. The new piano black earcups are awesome ... and like the last model in the Siberia line, they're as comfy as a Snuggie." Score: 93%
"They look awesome enough to be teamed with an iPod, and the tiny, responsive geektastic mic tucks away nicely."
"The SteelSeries Siberia v2 is one of the best gaming headsets we've reviewed. It's solid, sounds fantastic and is comfortable to wear. If you're looking for a gaming headset for around this price range, then there's no reason you shouldn't pick up a Siberia v2 for yourself."

It does have its good points, notably the receiver but it feels as this is were all of the design effort has been expended, with little left for the actual important bits like the sound. They are quite decent looking too but I would have gladly sacrificed the aesthetics for something remotely justifying the price tag. My advice look elsewhere as these will leave you feeling extremely short changed as you are effectively paying a £150.00 premium for the inclusion of Bluetooth which the model below this, the Siberia 800's does not have but essentially is identical to this model.
Look elsewhere, you will not regret it.
I viewed this headset as something of a risk due to its high price however what was delivered was of excellent quality, comfort and provides a sound thats been unrivalled in my experience. I am a convert from mid range Turtle Beach products which cannot rival this headset on either its ease of setup, build quality, sound quality or battery life.
Really great product and speedy service, keep up the good work Steelseries and Amazon.
The sound is ok not brilliant but for gaming they are perfect
Why 3 Stars? Well the battery situation. These eventually die and the only way in Europe to get new batteries is to return the entire headset. I did this once for my son but it is painful to do this.
They need better battery management so that the batteries last longer. Allowing them to run flat is not great. And yes they say you should change at one bar but who watches the levels that closely. If they should not be used beyond one bar then cut off power at that point and then force a battery swap.
I have had to resort to finding alternative batteries for the headset. This is possible but these will not charge in the sound box so you need a separate charger. Again just painful.
A V2 with this sorted out would make them awesome until then I would be slow to buy them if in Europe. Maybe this issue will get sorted.
As to the headphones, plugged them into my MSI Laptop and went through Steel Series Engine 3 (already loaded on my laptop as it has a S/Series keyboard), and very easy to set-up for the right sound setting and also the illuminated earpieces, look great.
Having had Sony MDR's previously and almost cried when they broke :( :( :( I was sceptical about finding another set of headphones that had good build quality, great sound and that were comfortable enough to wear for long periods.
Needless to say these are without doubt, well worth purchasing.
Faultless so far.
