From the manufacturer
The Rival 300’s performance reigns over the competition thanks to a cutting edge sensor, newly developed SteelSeries switches, and a suite of tweaks to give you the edge over your rivals.
Forged by Victory
Rival 300’s shape was moulded from some of the most iconic gaming mice of the past. We took great lengths to ensure a comfortable fit thanks to the right-handed orientation, a raised back end, and sleek contours.
Rival 300 is incredibly customisable with 16.8 million colour, 2-zone illumination, a 3D printable nameplate for individuality, and SteelSeries Engine 3 for finely-tuned performance adjustments.
Advanced Optical Sensor
At the heart of Rival 300 is the Pixart PMW3310 optical sensor. The 3310 promises zero hardware acceleration, offering true 1:1 tracking and precise movements no matter how fast things get during the heat of battle. The CPI is best-in-class with adjustments from 50 to 6500.
The proprietary SteelSeries engineered switches have a lifetime of over 30 million clicks and are the high-speed conduit between the sensor and mouse clicks. The audible mouse click is subtle, while delivering quick, tactile responsiveness.
When it’s time to get competitive you can really dial-in your settings thanks to SteelSeries Engine 3. Adjustable CPI, programmable buttons, polling rate, angle snapping, acceleration and deceleration are among the customisations that will make the mouse perform as you see fit.
Refined Side Grips
SteelSeries engineers have gone to great lengths to create the best possible side grip for the Rival 300. We went back to the drawing board and sculpted new side grips from a more durable and dense material that is more resistant to sweat and abrasion.
No one wants to do finger gymnastics just to press a button on their mouse. We engineered Rival 300 with ergonomic button positioning and size so clicks and movements feel natural, quick, and don’t take away from gameplay.
3D Printable Name Plate
Handy with a 3D printer? Why not design your own Rival 300 nameplate? To switch out the nameplate, simply pry the existing one off at either end (a fingernail or the tip of a pen can do the trick) and pop your new one in.

The mouse if small, light with a sleek finish. Ergonomically it is perfect for those right handed people who prefer to control the mouse with little contact. The cable is not braided but that isn't necessary in my opinion (considering the price is £30).
The best thing about the mouse is the precision. I could find no hint of acceleration, and my hand movements feel well tracked and replicated on screen. I do a lot of gaming and editing on a 1080p monitor and this mouse does the job brilliantly. playing Counter strike GO, COD, GTA V and for cutting out sections of clips in Sony Vegas Pro I would say the mouse is near flawless.
The software is simple and easy to understand. It's easy to change each of the buttons or even the colour of the leds.
There are only 2 drawbacks that i can find with the mouse if i am being objective.
1. The mouse has lift of movement drift. When you lift the mouse of the surface the sensor is still active. If you are the type of person that lifts off the move the mouse around the mat and make more room this may be an issue for you. For me my mouse never leaves the desk so it’s a non issue.
2. I don’t seem to be able to set custom DPI sensitivities. These seem to be at predefined intervals. I believe this is due to the sensor design and not the software but it is something to be aware off. I believe the steps are 250, 500, 1000, 1250.Read more ›
Made the upgrade and haven't looked back since! This mouse feels a lot better and is defiantly up there with the best competitive gaming mice because of its perfect sensor used by other mice too e.g. Zowie FK2 but the features, price and professional backing on this mouse drew me in. Teams such as Fnatic use this mouse and are sponsored by Steelseries who play a big part in the competitive scene. They have been around for a long time and know what they are doing! Colour LED's are a lot more vibrant in real-life.
Ideal mouse due to no acceleration, which is the way you should be playing.
A low DPI (400) in games with a big mouse mat is the best combo!
The grip can be palm or claw due to the large hump on the top, fingers do not overlap the edges at all.
My only issue with this mouse is the cable- nowadays we are getting used to cords covered with a fabric, which lasts for longer.
Still, for the price, I wouldn't expect more.
The LED is not flashy or striking at all, rather balanced and stylish.
My major favourite here is the design, which is very standard, simple and classic - it does not look like it is going to turn into a transformer anytime soon, and I appreciate that. Nice touch.
The buttons on the left side (thumb) are GREAT. They feel like proper mouse buttons and not flappy little weak clickers. The lights (whilst unnecessary) are nice to look at and the colours and effects can be easily changed. The 3D printed 'thing' is definitely a pointless addition and should be removed to lower the overall price. The downloadable 'Steelseries Engine 3' software to alter the mouse settings is easy to use, and I have 2 DPI settings to suit my needs. It is not packed with hundreds of tweaking options, but simplifies it and gives you everything you would require (or optionally ignore it!).

Excellent mouse for the price. My mouse before this was the Razer Deathadder, which costs £70 and is only slightly better than this.Published 10 days ago by Joshua
