Product Description

HELLO QUO! tells the candid, no-holds barred story of Status Quo s astonishing 50 year career as a touring and recording rock band.

With 120 million worldwide album sales already under their collective belts, two OBE awards, a million neon lit 'Sold Out' signs, a record 103 appearances on Top of the Pops - you d think that one of HRH Prince Charles favourite band had nothing more to prove... but never have their lives and career been laid out in such an unabashed and forthright manner. Collecting hours of previously unseen footage and classic live material with full exclusive access to all band members this is the definitive story of a band that has done and seen it all.

As well as full access to the band, Hello Quo! Also features input from a host of the biggest names in rock including: Brian May of Queen, Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy, Buzzcocks, Slade, Paul Weller, Sir Cliff Richard and Midge Ure. The documentary also exclusively features the moment when the original line up of the band met again for the first time in over 30 years. A truly poignant reunion, after years of legal wrangling, saw the band clear the air but also plug in and play together once again...

This Access All Areas Collector s Edition includes 3 hours of astonishing never seen before Quo footage!

Running for two and a half hours, Hello Quo! documents the fifty year history of the band. All of the key moments of their career are covered, the early psychedelic hits, the change to no-frills rock in the early 1970's, the years of success, the years of excess, the split in 1984, Live Aid, suing Radio 1, Rick's quadruple-heart bypass and then onto the present day, which finds them still recording and gigging, and as keen as ever.

One of the best things about the documentary is that all the members of the group have a voice, and both Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan have plenty of stories to recount.

In addition to Quo members past and present, there's a number of familiar faces including Brian May, Jeff Lynne and Paul Weller who have their own opinions and insights into what makes the group tick.

Apart from the main documentary, there's another three hours of bonus footage, of which the Shepperton Final Cut feature is the jewel in the crown. Running for 45 minutes, it's a chance to see Parfitt, Rossi, Lancaster and Coghlan reunited and performing some favourites from their back catalogue.

This is a great package and a fitting tribute to an enduring band.

Went to the screening of the film in the presence of the band members at Leicester Square a week before release. This dvd is a must of you are a fan of the band and at some two and a half hours long, is terrific value. It is full of humour and information that may surprise you, along with previousely unseen footage, it should have you glued to your seat waiting for the next instalment to appear before your very eyes. The end of the film signs off with the original four members getting back together at Shepperton Studios, to play one of their old songs from the Ma Kelly's album after years apart. This alone made it worthwhile as it quite rightly brought a rapturous applause from the audience to see them play in the line up that got them where they are today. Thoroughly entertaining and in my opinion, highlights that Status Quo are up there amongst the great bands this country has produced. Buy it, you won't be disappointed I promise .

Have to disagree with nearly everything Robbuk42 has has said. Sounds like he is one of those anti establishment left wingers who are never happy with anything. Why did he have to mention right wing comedians?? Totally got nothing to do with the price of fish.

I agree there isn't too much new for the diehard quo fan in the documentary, but the bonus disc is great and it get five stars just for the 45 mins jam. The chemistry or X factor that these four had already shows. As for Robbuk42's comments about In My Chair, well, he must have been listening through some very poor speakers! It's sounds great to me, as did Backwater......class!!

So, I thoroughly recommend buying the special edition version, to see the FF jam is pure joy!!

Please note despite the reviews this edition Does Not contain the 45 minute session when the origonal line up of "The Frantic Four" jam and play together again or other extras as the reviews suggest.
As a dvd in it's own right it is very good but i have now had to order Hello Quo Access All Areas this one does contain 2 discs and the bonus material which is what all Quo fans really want to see.

This film gives real insight into the band I loved as a boy growing up in the 70's!! It's just a shame so much of the performance footage is taken from lipsynced TV appearances... surely there must be plenty of live performance footage in the archives (like that superb WYW performance on the Richard Digence show!!) The interviews with the band members as they are today (well, in 2012 actually) are interesting with plenty of humour although, as someone else pointed out, no one will ever get through Rossi's cocky facade!! It was great to have full interviews with the original rhythm section too, even if Nuff is looking rather frail these days, possibly due to the stress of the breakup and subsequent legal wrangles! The bonus disc is a bit of a waste of space really, as I was hoping for rare archive footage of live performances rather than up to date rather sloppy clips of Rick & Francis reminiscing over the old days! Couldn't complain for the price I paid though, but I wouldn't recommend paying much over a fiver!

this is a very nice documentry for ANY quo fan HOWEVER i was lead to belive this contained much more vintage footage from the late 60s and the 70s then this did, it contained very little footage from the old days and i have been waiting for years now for some quo stuff to come out from that era ( 68 to 84) it would do me just fine, i dont need all the interviews and stuff like that becouse i have other dvds and footage with the same or similar stories on it, the best part of this was when lancaster got out of the car to meet rossi and co, like i said its a very, very well done doc with a great bonus disc of a jam with lancaster from 2012 but i would prefer a dvd set by quo presenting live footage from 68 to 84, just my opinion, i love quo, i hope that uk tour this march goes well but quo has not played new york now in 10 years and i have little hope they will be back, ive only seen quo twice once in 1997 and again in 03, before 97 they had not been here since 76 and i was to young then to have seen em, so far if the end is near as francis suggests im glad to say i saw them twice!!!!!
