Using this book I got the student a good pass in about 4 weeks. This book has [ almost ] everything. I would thoroughly recommend it.
Also, some of the notation used is very convoluted e.g. Sampling distribution of the sample mean, this is just a starter phase that made my head spin. I found myself spending a lot of time trying to understand phrases like this with no real benefit.
An introduction to econometrics - Dougherty, gives a much more userfriendly concise explaination for most topics that are useful to an Economist.
Its also worth mentioning that Howard Anton and Ken Binmore manage to write a pedagogical text book for linear algebra and calculus respectively. These 2 topics are intrinsically 'harder' than stats, but these authors still make a textbook that actually explains the concepts clearly.
Also this book is extremely expensive and DEFINITLY NOT worth it. Buy the edexcel s1-s6 books instead. Instead you're better off giving the money to a hobo so they can spend it on white lightning from lidl. But WHATEVER you do DO NOT buy this. Utter crap.
