Moreover, the open and frontal attack on individual freedoms by the G.W. Bush Administration has been far better analyzed and globally appreciated by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed in his magisterial book `The War on Freedom', a must read for all those who want to understand the world we live in.
I cannot recommend this book.
This looks at the illegal wire-tapping of American citizens, the important intelligence that was ignored and the false intelligence that was fabricated to justify war. It also looks at the ineptitude of President Bush and how Rumsfeld ignored his orders and worked with Cheney and other neoconservatives towards his own agendas. This book explores the practise of rendition and hostile interrogation techniques and how the CIA gave Iran nuclear blueprints via Russian defectors. It also mentions the special relationship the Bush family has with Saudi Arabia and how this supposed ally cannot be trusted. There is plenty of information here that has already come to light over the years and plenty more that was unknown to me and it made for interesting, mildly shocking (I should be more shocked, but nothing I read about the corruption of Politics surprises me anymore!) and infuriating reading.
This was clear to read and made it's point without seeming to be heavily biased one way or the other. Like I hinted at before, if you have read many politics/current affairs books, then this won't shock you too much. But if you are new to this type of book the information inside will shock and anger you. The levels of corruption and ineptitude are staggering.
All in all this made for an interesting and informative read and if you are even mildly interested in the themes of this book I suggest you take a look.
