I didn't discover until I'd finished reading Starting Fires that it was Makenzie's debut novel, which only made me more impressed. My thanks to Makenzie for writing a long story, taking time to develop all the main characters and creating a realistic passage of time for Lucas and Marlowe's relationship to develop - their fear of commitment and individual hang ups often lead to bad decisions, misunderstandings, miscommunications and heartbreak. You feel frustrated on their behalf, at times wanting to hug them and at other points shake sense into them. I will be looking out for other novels from Makenzie. I'm hoping for sequels featuring Bear, Mia, etc.

I liked this book a lot and enjoyed getting to know the characters, I couldn't put it down, I needed to know how it finished, it was a bit angsty but didn't make me cry. I felt a bit annoyed with Marlow towards the end but I could understand where she was coming from. I would definitely recommend it and will look out for the next book by this author.

This book has me hooked throughout!!! So many emotions ran through me reading this,I laughed and cried at times. The book was written so well, I felt like I could truly feel marlowe's pain, her happiness and her love for Lucas, and his love for her. Absolutely loved this book, I hope there's more to come from makenzie Smith
