Easy USB to USB file transfers between two computers (PC/Mac®).
The PCMACLINK2 USB to USB data transfer cable offers direct file transfers via USB connection between two computers (PC and Mac, PC and PC, Mac and Mac).
The USB data transfer cable eliminates the complicated network setup required to transfer files between computers, or the need to use external storage devices to transfer files back and forth, saving time and hassle.
Once the cable has been connected, a built-in software suite will automatically install on each computer, which not only creates a convenient path for the file transfers but also allows you to sync e-mails from Microsoft Outlook®, synchronize the contents of entire folders, or even share CD/DVD drive access and an Internet connection (between two Windows-based computers).

Recently replaced one of the machines, ditched 2 of the slaves and upgraded everything to run on Win 7 Home Premium 64bit...
The cable still installs & works fine but the software has trouble making the machines talk to each other in the way they should (and did through XP.)
It's still possible to transfer files individually via the virtual bridge but with Win 7 the "Sync remote folders" function just refuses to complete and sometimes causes the program to stop responding altogether.
Not a fault with the hardware, just most likely the software wasn't tested to run with 7. Sad because it's otherwise a great bit of kit.
The cable operates at a hardware level, therefore I don't have any issue with the administrator restrictions of the company laptop for what concerns the identification of the device. No issue with the software GO Bridge that is an executable file stored inside the cable and doesn't require to be installed on the connected computers, therefore no administator locks on the company computer. Perfect!
Both computers runs under Windows XP Professional 32 bit.
Unfortunately I can't use the software included in the GO Bridge that should allow to use the internet connection of the company laptop remotely from my personal computer because of administrative restrictions that impede it. Therefore I can't review this feature.
On the other hand the software of the Go Bridge that allows data transfer is not at all blocked by the administrator restrictions of the company laptop. This software is a sort of file explorer that allows a remote navigation inside the folders of the other computer. This is very convenient and easy to use: to transfer data you can simply drag and drop single files, multiple files, folders, everything you want, from Windows explorer to the GO Bridge explorer and vice versa. Furthermore you can open files that are stored on one computer directly from the other computer with double click on the GO Bridge explorer: for example when I need to print a file that is on my personal computer, I just open the file from the company laptop using the GO Bridge explorer and print, with no need of file tranfer in advance. Very, very useful!
However the cable has showed a reliability issue in the transfer of data. It has happened (in very few cases) that the files, once transferred from one computer to the other, became corrupted. I've not understood yet if this is due to the cable itself or to the computer (quite old), but this is the reason why I don't award the cable with 5 stars. I'll investigate using another computer.
