Product Description

Sony Classical is pleased to present the re-release of fan-favourite album – JOHN WILLIAMS CONDUCTS JOHN WILLIAMS. Originally released in 1990, this takes the form of a ‘Best Of’ album, with music from original Star Wars trilogy, episodes IV, V, VI.

However, rather than just a compilation of tracks from the original motion picture soundtracks, John Williams specially arranged the most-loved themes from the series into their own distinct and powerful concert pieces, showing off the great music and memorable tunes from the films at their best.

Recorded in 1990 with John Williams himself conducting The Skywalker Symphony at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch, this is not just an incredible sounding album, but a piece of Star Wars history.

No collection of Star Wars music would be complete without these defining and original works by written and conducted John Williams.

What can I say, this soundtrack contains some of the most emotion evoking music I have ever heard. Everyone knows what the Star Wars themes sound like, from the opening credits to The Imperial March- Darth Vader's theme, but words can not express what effect this music has on people or what it means to Star Wars fans.

This soundtrack is a re-recording that John Williams did with the Skywalker symphony orchestra in 1990 at the Skywalker Ranch, it contains the best music from the original trilogy. The theme from The Emperor's Throne Room does not appear here, but it is on the deluxe edition and the Return Of The Jedi soundtrack, but it is still awesome.

Wow I just love this music! I've been waiting years for an album like this. The ones I've seen are incredibly expensive but I assume that's because the music is from the actual film. This is John Williams conducting and whilst it sounds a little different in places (I've watched the Star Wars trilogy so many times the music is so recognisable) it is still absolutely brilliant. Buy it - you won't be disappointed! Oh and turn it on full blast haha.

I bought this to play at my son's 5th birthday party as he has asked for a Star Wars Angry Birds themed birthday party and wanted the original Star Wars music playing! The CD has the classic recognisable tunes such as the main Star Wars theme, the Imperial March and Here They Come! A fantastic buy and a great price

This is a suberbly crafted distillation of the music of the first Star Wars Trilogy made by the composer. It is in the form of a "suite" or "symphony" and lasts about an hour. It does not become jaded by repeated hearings and deserves classic status. Some enterprising choreographer could do worse than make it into a ballet!

Fantastic compilation of various themes and musical cues from the original Star Wars trilogy. Recorded at the Skywalker ranch March 19-20 1990. The album is a must have for anyone who loves Star Wars when it was not bending to political correctness.

Got this for my son as he, like myself as a boy, loves the Star Wars soundtrack. He listens to at night before bed and every time I hear bits of it I can see the scene in my head as clearly as if I was watching the film.

I recently re-purchased this CD when I realised I’d lost my original copy from back in the day. Yes, I have alot of these or similar tracks on other disks but this particular recording sounds quite amazing and the Skywalker Orchestra (conducted by Williams) are utterly fantastic. I also think it’s a nice selection – less is more sometimes. I thoroughly recommend this release to all – the genius of Williams has never sounded better.
