Yoda is part of the Original Trilogy Collection (OTC) or sometimes referred to as the Vintage Original Trilogy Collection (VOTC) which were released back in 2004, and comprised of 12 figures in total, 4 from each of the original Star Wars trilogies, Yoda is one of the four in the Empire Strikes Back set.

The Original Trilogy Collection was one of the most successful Star Wars figure lines since the original figures back in late 70`s and early 80`s. The OTC figures vary between one and other, with some being more articulate than others, but all have a large amount of detail to them.

One of the reasons for the Original Trilogy Collection's success was partly down to the same backing cards being used from the originals, and the durable plastic shell casing to protect them, the Case's themselves have the Rebel Alliance and Empire emblems imbedded on the front and the Star Wars logo imbedded on the back. In recent years the OTC/VOTC series have become much sort after amongst Star Wars fans, as a result they have increased in price and become difficult to find.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great old wise Yoda 4 May 2013

I'm an original Star Wars fan. However, I returned to collect Star Was figures after a 26 years hiatus, so I had missed this yoda the first time. But finally got my hands on this version and I'm glad I did.

This figure is from the Original Trilogy Collection; Yoda as seen on the Empire Strike Back movie. The sculpt of this figure is really good on the face, showing Yoda's age very well. Its body is well sculpted as well, although I thought that Yoda with the robes on looked more robust in this version than in the movie.

In the bubble, this figure wears a robe, and a pouch around the neck. And just like the original Kenner figure, this one includes a serpent.

This figure has:
- ball jointed head
- ball hinged shoulder
- swivel elbows, wrists and hips, but
- no articulates waist, knees or ankles.

Some times, super articulation get in the way of a great figure sculpt, although this figure could have used some articulation one the legs for posability.

Overall, this figure offers great likeness and good posability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 30 Nov. 2010

Just don't pay the 30$+ price that sellers are asking for. That's crazy... this figure isn't THAT rare. I wouldn't pay more than 20$ for this. Thankfully someone here put it up for a reasonable price, and I got it!

Anyway, I love this Yoda! Without a doubt, this is the definite Original Trilogy Yoda. He comes with a cloth robe (his "skirt" is also cloth), a cane, and a snake. I'm guessing the snake was for nostalgia purposes. It would've been nice if it was the original orange color the vintage one had, that could go on his shoulders. Oh well... This figure is pretty articulated for a Yoda.

Very recommended for Star Wars fans and collectors! Great Yoda figure!
5.0 out of 5 stars Yoda is awesome!!!!!!!! 23 April 2013

I love this Yoda action figure I bought from an Amazon store. I like how detailed he is, and how he's wearing a real cloth robe. I especially like his companion snake. The box was also cool in that was a reprodction of the actual packaging from the '80s. I have Yoda displayed next to Pinhead from Hellraiser. If you give this some thought you will understand why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Yoda I expected 3 Nov. 2010

I got schwindled when I got this. I thought it was the original Kenner's 1980 casting of Yoda with the orange snake, the gimer stick and a benign Oriental face. There were three castings of the Yoda action figure. The original 1980 Kenner's casting. Kenner's got bought out by Hasbro. There was a 1993 Yoda casting and there was a 2010 Empire Strikes Back Vintage Line casting and it is the latter that is being sold.

If you are looking for the original Kenner's Yoda that you held in your hand in 1981, then look to ebay. This is not that one.

That being said, this is still a high quality toy. For kids born in the last couple of decades, they would not know the difference and clearly would not have any 1980 based memories of holding any Yoda action figures of the past. This Yoda would be the one to form and gel those nostalgic memories that could last a lifetime.

This Yoda has a casting that suggests a school of toy carving that is consistent with the high end Dungeons and Dragons and Lord of the Rings carvings found at upscale toy stores like The Games People in Gastown, Vancouver, Canada. The new generation certainly does the STAR WARS action figure legacy justice and more.
