It comes with three AA batteries installed, and the blade lights up and powers down like in the films/historical documents. No need to make the sound either as this does that as well. The downside is that the motion sensor is not as accurate as it could be.
Some information that is not on the item details. It is 34 inches or 87 cm long. You will need a philips screwdriver to change the batteries. It is not that heavy so kids should have no problems starting their Padawan training.
May the Force be with you.
Only time will tell if it stands up to being smacked against other lightsabres with all my son's might when he is older and stronger. So far, though, this toy has weathered the abuse with aplomb. So much so that we bought the Anakin and Darth Vader versions so that the three of us can enjoy family lightsabre fights. The sound effects are excellent and the beam far brighter than the old style telescopic ones.
Yes it's an expensive item but it's worth holding out to find one on promotion because they are pretty durable. If you have small people who love StarWars, if you are sci-fi spud, yourself, you will have a lot of fun with these.
This is the most durable sword version, worth the money.
I would have returned it but it was for my son's birthday and he insisted having it out of the box to play with. I even paid for express delivery, 'm left feeling like a total chump.

I would not recommend this product. Its very expensive and after 3 weeks the switch stopped working so that it doesn't light up or make any sounds.Published on 12 Mar. 2014 by MM
