The information and artwork were very interesting to read, but for me, the real gem were the commentaries added in by various major characters throughout the Star Wars universe such as Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Luke. It just adds that much more charm into the book. My personal favorite were the ones by Anakin which were all fill with a nice dose of dramatic irony for those of us that watched the movies (when commenting on the power of force grip/choking, he wrote something along the lines of how he doesn't think it is really all that dangerous since you are only lifting someone off the group), and the utterly sarcastic and dark humor annotations by Emperor Palpatine.
But for those that are not really familiar with the Star Wars expanded universe, you might occasionally come across names of characters, locations, or events that you don't know about, in that case I recommend using wookieepedia to look up the basics. Other then that, this book is a simple, yet very satisfying read for Star Wars fans that I will highly recommend.
Now all we need is the paperback version of the "Book of Sith"...
However, it's very insubstantial. There's not much content - and what is there is often spaced out rather than being concisely presented. What's more, as some of the contents are meant to remain hidden (as forbidden knowledge) so they're crossed out - resulting in page after page being unreadable! In consequence, the actual contents of this book can be read through in a very short period of time.
I got the impression that as "A Manual for Students of the Force" this book is simply too short. It's as if you can learn how to become a Jedi in less than two hours! This is an example of style over substance ... the idea behind this book and the quality of the publication are good, but there's very little to actually engage with.
Nonetheless, as a display item this is a nice book. And it's fun to flick through. For these reasons I do recommend it to fan of Star Wars - so long as it's reasonably priced (i.e. under £5).

The lore housed within the book is excellent and very informative and the explanation of what the Jedi and Sith stand for is very interesting. It's also nice to see the seven styles of lightsaber form beautifully laid out and the entire thing is gorgeously illustrated.
No regrets, would buy this again over and over and it's become a cherished part of my library already! I also bought the Book of Sith, something I recommend all do as the contrasts make them even more beautiful to read.
As for the book itself, is great, hard-cover, and well bound, the paper has this parchment feel to it and the greatest thing for me, the outside edges on the long side are jaded, like it's been hand-bound by a student of the force from different pages.
The book also touches upon things like space craft, alien species and the dark side of The Force, all accompanied by colour illustrations.
It's aimed at a more adolescent reader, so for those wanting a deeper read should probably pass this one up.
A paperback option would have been nice, but the hardback is reasonably priced.
