A life affirming tale about humanity, love, children, selflessness and the inevitable triumph of human goodness over selfish, empty nihilism. Am I really describing a Star Wars comic? Yes I am, and I'm both wonderfully and delightfully surprised to be doing so. This superior little book has a tale to be told, and a message to convey. That tale is a tale of hope, a tale of resistance to tyranny, and a tale that leaves you feeling hopeful, joyful and wonderfully renewed. The message of the book is a message of unselfish, unconditional love for your fellow man. A message that says, the real meaning of life is not what you do for yourself, but what you do for others, and for future generations. How fantastic is that?
It's by far and away the happiest comic I've read in some time, and the only reason that I'm not discussing the plot or characters is because I want you to experience it fresh for yourself. If you want to buy a Star Wars book then buy this one. Forget the Darth Vader and Boba Fett books (although a lot of them are excellent as well) and take a chance on this one. If you get a tenth as much enjoyment out of it as I myself did then it will be the best comic book purchase you've made in quite some time.

Awesome writing, great art, I just hope Disney doesn't cancel it! No real need to by the individual issues. Just buy the trades when they come out and have yourself a nice set!

HASH(0x8ae3f384) out of 5 stars Good Read, Bad Price! 11 Sept. 2013

The only complaint I have about this comic is the price. $18 is just too much for a comic! The story line and illustrations were pretty good though. I liked the novel "Knights Errant" and had to persue Kerra Holt's adventures. I do have to say that "Escape" had a "strange" touch to it. The sith lord Odion and his followers are a strange bunch, the death cult. This was a good read as long as you don't have to pay the price I did!

Kerra Holt is a Jedi, living a thousand years before Luke Skywalker. She is fighting a solitary fight against the Sith Lords that control a sector of space that has been abandoned by the Republic. Now she has a lead on her parents that she thought died long ago. To follow that lead, she will need to invade the territory controlled by Sith Lord who styles himself the destroyer of the universe.

Like the other two graphic novel collections in this series, there is a good story with nice artwork which adds to the telling. Kerra isn't a typical Jedi though. She often lets negative emotions control her. To me, she acts not as a Jedi but as a space mercenary. It makes the story feel less like a Star Wars story and more like a general sci-fi story.

One thing that makes Star Wars stand out for me is that the aliens don't usually come off as humans with pointy ears or weird ridges on their faces. The first two collections in this series hand this problem somewhat. This third installment got back to using aliens a little more though.

Another thing about Star Wars is that they work very hard to make all of the pieces fit together into the continuity. Reading series outside of the order doesn't always hurt but it does keep some of the getting caught up in all of it from happening. I am not sure if that is the case here, but I suspect it might be.

John Jackson Miller continues Knight Errant with volume 3, Escape. Kerra Holt goes undercover as a sith to spy on Lord Odion for yet another sith, Lord Daiman. Odion is on the hunt for a special artifact that may contain powers within the force that could help him rule the galaxy once and for all. Kerra figures it would be more wise to help the creator(Daiman) before she would the destroyer(Odion). While on the journey to search for the lost artifact, Kerra also digs deeper into her past, as she realizes that she is following in the foot steps of her parents. I enjoyed this story most out of the first 3 installments. The art is well done and the story is getting better each time. I give Escape 4.4/5 stars.

This story is a fitting end to one of the best comic series in the Star Wars "Old Republic" era
